The Last Preformance
"You got this Melody!" Issac whispered as he walked up behind me getting into position. It was our last show before the holidays and I was excited to get back to my apartment and finish packing to go home. I have been so busy with ballet performances and practices that I have not been able to go back to my pack in two years.
Going home on holidays while I was in high school was so much easier than the last two years have been. Trying to balance establishing my career, relationships and remaining sane have proved to be more difficult than I ever imagined.
My pack is the BlueMoon pack located in the rural areas of the South Carolina Mountains. We aren't a huge pack in numbers, only about 500 werewolves, but we are incredibly strong and prosperous. Every pack member male and female are obligated to train or gain other skills necessary to aid the packs well-being. Being the betas daughter, I trained every day in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts till I went away for high school at 15 to the school for preforming arts. I still train but with the busy schedules I dont get to train but a couple days a week in off hours.
As I was getting lost in my own thoughts during the preformance, Issac spun me a little harder than usual, catching me in an Arabesque and causing me to once again focus. After another 8 count the preformance was over and I curtsied to the crowd.
We walked off stage together and Issac looks at me with a confused look.
"What?" I asked
"You seemed a little distracted tonight."
"I got lost in my own thoughts, it's been 2 years since I went home. Yeah, I've seen my parents and siblings, they come to visit but I haven't been back to my pack in so long." I said
Issac was one of the three other werewolves that danced for The New York City Ballet, and the only male. He wasn't a ranked wolf, just an Omega, but an incredibly talented Danseur (male dancer in a ballet company). We have developed a close friendship since working together and finding out our apartments are in the same building and our packs are allies that are only hours apart. We joke about how fate put us together as friends.
"Well I'm sure you will be fine. Plus you know your ride there will be awesome!" Issac said with a cheeky smile.
"Are you sure you dont mind me carpooling with you all the way to my pack?" I asked.
"Not at all! At least I will have someone to talk to, and the BlueMoon pack is only about an hour out of the way." he said.
"Thanks so much, I really didn't want to fly!"
He chuckled at me as we walked closer to the dressing rooms.
"Haha... You are a badass werewolf, who is trained in 2 different forms of martial arts and you are scared of flying! You know you are 3 times more likely to die in a car accident than a plane crash, right?" Issac asked me.
"I know the statistics, Issac" I said sarcastically as I walked into the dressing room to change.
Changing into a pair of loose black sweatpants, pink long sleeve t-shirt with a white zip-up hoodie over top, and my white and black Adidas I wiped the eye make-up off my sky blue eyes before pulling the hood over my long wavy auburn hair. I walked out to meet Issac and catch a ride share back to our apartment building. Issac was standing by the door flirting with Emma, one of the snobby human ballerinas when I walked up.
"Let's go... please" I said grabbing his
arm and trying to pull him with me, he kissed Emma on the cheek as she rolled her eyes at me and walked the other way.
The ride was rather quick for a busy night in New York but I was thankful we were not stuck in traffic forever. We said our goodbyes as Issac got off the elevator on his floor and I continued up to the 22nd floor where my apartment is located.
I closed the door to my apartment ready to go cook something to eat since I was famished and am usually very hungry after a preformance. With our already heightened metabolism as werewolves, being a ballerina and training in martial arts twice a week I tend to need a lot of calories. I got out a pack of ramen noodles to cook as I snacked on some BBQ chips when I heard a knock on the door.
"Open up Melody, I have to pee! Hurry b***h!"
I run over and unlock the door as Kellie runs past me dropping her purse on the floor. My best friend Kellie isn't a dancer but works in the ticket office at the ballet. We met one morning when I was on the way to a rehearsal and she dropped a huge box filled brochures on the sidewalk. Issac and I were the only people to stop and help her from them all flying away.
I got out another pack of ramen and started to cook them when Kellie comes out of the bathroom and asks me how my day was.
"Besides me getting distracted during our last preformance and Issac almost dropping me, good" I told her.
She giggled and said under her breath "I would have liked to see that." I threw the fork I was using at her and she dodged it laughing harder.
"You know Ms. Erin would have killed me if I had messed up!" I yelled at her causing her to laugh even harder.
We joked around and ate for about an hour till I told her I had to finish packing. When Kellie left I promised to call her everyday while I was gone. After finishing the last of my packing I took a shower and laid down, consumed by darkness not long after I laid my head down.
