When she returned to the royal palace, she asked her father to catch the strange unicorn for her. “Father, I really want to own this glittering magical creature. It looks so wonderful! ”Thereupon the king said:“ Dear Kathi, I would like to do that, but for once I cannot fulfill this wish for you. Magical beings cannot be captured. You have to earn their attention. ”Thoughtful Kathi went into her room.
Every time she went out into the forest, Kathi visited the clearing again. She really wanted to see the creature again. She tried to lure it with treats, but the unicorn just couldn't be seen.
At night she dreamed of how she rode through the forest on the white back of the unicorn and was allowed to take part in the secret gathering of unicorns. She was amazed at how polite and amiable all the unicorns were to one another. But then the dream changed. Kathi suddenly saw herself in her dream. She saw how she yelled at one of the servants and how condescending she was with the dressmakers. Kathi woke up from her dream and could no longer fall asleep. She brooded all night and resolved to be a better princess from the next morning.
The next morning she woke up early and put on the simplest dress she had. She ran down the many stairs to the dining room and sat down at the huge table that was set just for her. Kathi noticed that she wasn't hungry at all and ran to the kitchen. “Good morning Mathilda, you don't need to make me breakfast today. An apple and a glass of milk are enough for me this morning. The kitchen helper looked at the other employees and could hardly believe her ears. Kathi grabbed the apple and the milk and hurried out.
There she met the coachman who was already feeding the horses and getting them ready for the ride. "Hello Benjamin, may I help you feed the horses?" Without waiting for Benjamin to answer, one of the horses had already cleaned Kathi's apple. "Super! That’s a lot of fun! ”Kathi exclaimed happily
