Chapter 3 - Goodbye

Lucy woke up early and made up her resolve. She quickly stood up and got ready for the day. She made up her mind that she will leave the guild. Not officially, as she still loves Fairy Tail, her true family. Even though she was hurt from the words that her team and guild mates said, she still remembers the time they saved her, protected her and comforted her. She still believes in them and she will get to the bottom of this, on why they suddenly acted strange to her.

She remembers the time when she just joined but her father wants her back and even hired a dark guild to take her away from Fairy Tail. She felt so guilty because she was the reason why the guild is destroyed into smithereens and a few guild members were hospitalized including Levy. Lucy was ready to give up and sacrifice herself for the guild, but Fairy Tail didn’t give up on her. Especially Mira, Erza, Gray and Natsu who even went to the base when she was kidnapped. Hopefully, once she finds out the truth, she won’t be hurt than she already is. She will convince master to let the others know that she went on a mission although her true destination is to be far from the guild and train to become stronger.

Gate of the Maiden I open thee, Virgo!!!

A pink haired woman with blue eyes in a maid outfit appeared. “How may I help you hime?” (*hime means princess in japanese)  “Hey Virgo, can you please pack my things? I just need to do something else.” “No problem, hime.” With that Virgo started packing everything. Lucy Heartfilia is a celestial mage which lets her summon spirits from another dimension. Virgo is one of the 12 golden keys or zodiac spirits, Virgo the Virgin or Maiden.

Gate of the Lion I open thee, Loke!!!

A handsome man with soft spiky orange hair dressed in a suit appeared. "Lu" Loke called but Lucy cut him off. Loke is a former guild member of Fairy Tail and was banned from entering the spirit world. But thanks to Lucy, he was able to become a spirit again. They are owner and spirit but close friends as well. In the spirit world, they know what is happening or what happened to their owner especially if they have a close bond. Therefore, Loke knows how Team Natsu abandoned her.

"Can you please tell the land lady, that I'm going away? Give her my monthly rent, and tell her that I'm not coming back, and also please. Give this to master or Mira-san after 3 days." Lucy said and gave multiple letters to Loke. Letters for Master, Mira, Juvia, Laxus, Gajeel, Levy, Wendy, Romeo, Happy, Lily, Carla, Lissana, and Team Natsu.

"Okay, I will. And Lucy? Please take care of yourself, and remember I’m… We’re always there for you." Loke said with a calm and comforting voice although what he feels right now is the complete opposite. Loke is also one of the golden keys or zodiacs Leo the Lion, AKA the strongest zodiac.

“Thank you for always being there for me Loke…” Lucy said with a happy smile but you can also see the sadness in them. With that she went out of her apartment and walked towards the guild.

Gate of the Canis Minor I open thee, Nikora!!!

A small white creature appeared with a yellow nose. Besides the golden keys, there are also silver keys which represent the other stars and constellations in the universe. Although the name of the key is Nikora, Lucy renamed her spirit as Plue. “Hey, Plue, do I deserve this? Getting hurt by my guild mates, abandoned by my friends and getting my heart broken by my boyfriend. Do I deserve that? What have I done to experience that treatment?" She was talking to her spirit while walking to the guild. Because it’s still early there are only a few people roaming around the city.

She walked into the guild and Lucy saw multiple people sleeping in the guild. It must be because they are too drunk from drinking too much. Lucy walked up to the bar and asked Mira. “Mira-san is Master upstairs?” Mira was busy getting drinks from the basement so she didn’t witness how Team Natsu kicked her out. “Yes he is. Why are you looking for him?” “Oh nothing. I was just going to ask the master about the mission I am going to take.” And with that, Lucy immediately went upstairs not wanting to be asked anymore questions.

Lucy knocked and was answered with a “Come in”. Lucy opened the wooden door and was greeted by a small old man who is the master of Fairy Tail, Master Makarov. “Ah, my child Lucy. What can I do for you? It’s rare for you to come directly to my office.  Actually, I think it’s your first time. Come on, sit.” Master Makarov is the type of leader wherein he treats each and every member of the guild as his children. “The thing is Master I… I would like to le-leave the guild.”

“NANIIIIIII!?” (*nani means what in Japanese)

“I mean why!? Do you not like it here anymore?” Master was confused and was panicking because this is the first time that a member of the guild wanted to leave. There were only a few cased of members leaving but it is because they are kicked out!

“You may not know master, but the things is I was hurt by Team Natsu just yesterday.” Lucy said as she reminisced about what happened yesterday which brought tears in her eyes. “What do you mean my child? Team Natsu, as soon as you joined you were inseparable especially with Natsu Can you please tell me the whole story?” Because Lucy trusts the Master, she told him the truth.

“I see… First of all, I am sorry for what they said to you. They were with me since they were kids and I find it hard to believe. But Lucy, although I only knew you for a few months, I also know that you can’t lie and you have the biggest heart among us. You believe that there is something that made them like that? Okay, I will investigate this my child. Are you sure that you want to leave the guild?” Master’s voice was comforting and embraces you just like what a father does that Lucy wasn’t able to experience ever since her mom died.

“Yes Master. But only for a few years. I will be back I promise. I just need to train and become stronger for me and for the guild as well. Also, will it be okay if I ask to not have my insignia erased?” Lucy asked cradling her right hand wherein the insignia of the guild is marked on in pink. Insignia is a sign or mark which identifies you as a member of a guild.

“Of course my child. You can keep it. Although you won’t be here for a few years, your heart and ours are still one. I will be awaiting for your return Lucy.” Master Makarov said with tears coming out of his eyes. Lucy couldn’t take it anymore and burst into tears while hugging the master. After a few minutes of crying, they finally calmed down.

“Thank you master for everything and I promise that I will be back. Also, if someone asks please tell them that I went on a solo mission which may take some time.” Through the conversation with the master, Lucy was holding Plue so tight. With those words Lucy wiped her tears and waved goodbye to the master. She went downstairs and sprinted outside of the guild.

“Lucy!? Good luck on your mission!” Mira called out from the bar. Lucy waved again and said, “Thank you Mira-san! Goodbye!” Mira was struck with something she doesn’t understand. Why is it that when Lucy said ‘goodbye’, Mira’s heart twinge and thought about how that ‘goodbye’ seems like the ‘goodbye’ wherein you won’t see someone for a long time? Mira was puzzled and confused but brushed it off as just her mind messing with her.

Lucy went home and quickly got her luggage and went for the train station. The mission is about “Finding the Lost Treasure of Layla Heartfilia in Heartfilia Residence”. It was the best mission for her, Lucy Heartfilia the daughter of Layla Heartfilia. The mission didn’t say anything else but the rewards, the meet up place and the name of the one who gave the mission.
