CHAPTER 2

Eira POV “Hey! Luna! Get up; you're free to go,” one of the policemen said, coming to unlock the cell where I was. He waited for me to get out before I walked out surprised. I wasn't expected to be released anytime soon; who bailed me out? I had no one other than Kieran and Elara, who I was certain wouldn't bother themselves with me since they were on their honeymoon. Since I was arrested, they've been mocking me by calling me Luna. To them, I had planned to steal the real Luna's position and was caught. What they didn't know was that the reverse was the case. I spent the night in the station before I was finally able to breathe the fresh air of freedom again. All thanks to my angry wolf without a single strength. “Who?” I asked the policeman at the desk who was handing over my jewelry to me. “Who? You didn't expect anyone to come to bail you out, right? That's what happens to people like you. We don't know them, but they looked like people who didn't want you to waste here and would rather use you to appease the moon goddess.” This caused everyone in the area to burst into laughter. I rolled my eyes at the bastard before walking out of the station. Who released me? Was it Kieran? Flagging a cab, I slipped in and was dropped in front of my house. My house? Elara's house, too. We have been roommates since we left the orphanage home. At age 17, if the orphans haven't been taken by a couple, they would be set free to prepare them for meeting their mate at age 18. Elara and I left and rented an apartment together. We've been living together for years and have been best friends, not keeping anything away from each other. “Trash that,” I gritted my teeth as I opened the door to the apartment. She certainly kept a lot of secrets from me. The door was unlocked, and I frowned. What would Elara be doing at home after her sweet wedding with her husband? Shouldn't she be in the pack house, or maybe on her way to where they were to do their honeymoon? When I stepped into the house, I was greeted by some men who sat comfortably on my couch. Fear gripped me as I wondered what these hefty men were doing in my apartment. Immediately they saw me, and they stood up. Not in fear but with respect. “Good morning, Luna,” they bowed to me, and my face immediately turned sour. So the whole world now knows me as the fake Luna. What nonsense! Did the police make them do this? “I'm not Luna, idiots!” I spat when I saw how they bowed to me in respect. I can't even tell if they were joking or were just dumb. They didn't agree or refuse my words. “You have to come with us to the Thorne pack. Our Alpha requests your presence.” A small chuckle left my lips before I shook my head in amusement. They wanted me to come with them, as the policemen had said, so they could use me for sacrifice. Wait! Wait! Wait! “Were you guys the ones who bailed me out of jail?” I asked in surprise, raising both brows at them. “No, ma'am,” one replied, and another said, “Our Alpha, Alpha Darius, did.” I stared at them, amazed. “Who did you say you were again?” They were big, huge, and I wasn't expecting them to have such respect for me, someone so tiny. They can easily bundle me and break all the bones in my body; my wolf would dare not spill out the anger she did with Luna in fear. “We are guards from Thorne's pack; we were sent by Alpha Darius.” Of course, I rolled my eyes. So because I went over to my own wedding dressed as the bride, everyone thinks I'm crazy, yeah? Alpha Darius seeks my attention. What a joke. I let out a small laugh. Even the Alpha of Moon White would fear and tremble if he heard that Alpha Darius was asking for him. He was nothing compared to Alpha Darius; as for me, I'm an air. Certainly, they were sent by Luna Greer, Kieran, or Elara to capture me and sacrifice me to the moon goddess as a peace offering. “Tell your Alpha Darius that I am not coming, and I am busy." I placed my hands on my waist, waiting for them to do their worst, but all they did was walk out of the house after a slight bow. I was shocked that they didn't fight back. I mean, they could have done what the guards did back at the pack hall, right? They even bowed? I could already see through their lies, yet they still bowed. "Idiots,” I muttered as I went to the door and locked it from inside so that they wouldn't have a way to come back in. I headed straight to the room to pack up all my belongings before Elara came back home. That's if she would. “Getting married to royalty—of course, these clothes are useless to her now,” I murmured with bitterness in my heart. That was my position; she stole my life, my man, my wedding, my gown, my attention—everything that she stole was mine. I needed to leave the house; although we paid the rent together and bought everything together, I didn't want to exchange words with her, nor did I want to ever see her again. I picked up my bag and began to drop all my clothes inside. Just as I was packing my clothes, I heard a loud knock on the door. My eyes widened, and my heart skipped multiple beats as I gulped. Just as I had predicted, those robbers were here to capture me and take me by force. Ignoring the rest of my belongings, I rushed to the window and threw my bag out before jumping out through the window. They won't get me, not today!
