CHAPTER SIXTEEN ELISA Ravi leads me through the tan and blue corridors of the Desierto Vistas complex to a small courtyard carpeted in moss. Stone planters scattered around the grounds contain flowering cacti and succulents. The scent of incense hangs in the air, heavy and thick despite the courtyard being open to the sky. The sun, barely peeping above the horizon, warms my face but as early as it is, it’s not painfully hot… yet. “Our goal,” Ravi says, adjusting his white tunic so it billows perfectly over his beaded belt, “is not to have you change shape or even think about it. Our first exercise is more of a diagnostic. Your only goals are to relax and visualize.
