1143 Words
Hey guys thanks for reading this chapter of My Torment. As you would know, this book is relatively new and unknown so likes, reviews, and follows would really help me out to get it noticed. If not, all good, just reading is enough. Thank you again for your support!!! The scent burning his nostrils, Byron could not place the scent, but it was familiar. Thinking hard he was still coming up a blank as his teeth gritted together. Who was this male, was he why she left? Why she stayed gone for so long, was it his fault she was in this state? Over the years Byron had now seen a few wolves go through withdrawal, never had he thought Madison would be one of them. Though he honestly never thought he would never see her again. The memory flooding his mind and body when he felt her connection to the pack tear away. It was like a piece of him vanished in an instant. In the space of seconds he lost his best friend, a pack member and the love of his life. Byron had always thought once mature, Madison would have been his soul mate. When she disappeared thinking her dead with everyone in the pack, he thought he also lost his mate. Yet right now, Madison lay on the hospital bed before him. It cut at his insides to know she was not his, she would never be his soul bonded mate. In his mind, Bryon had decided if it was not his mate, he would not bond with anyone. He had all but given up on a future relationship without her, hands fisting at his sides he could still not mange to pry his eyes away from her figure. Was this scent her mates, did he do this to her? Was it him who kept her away, who made her strip the connection to the pack? Byron’s mind swimming with questions, the door creaked open as his Alpha’s entered. The twins working their way in, their Luna trailed behind them. Caleb staying outside the room for a brief moment, Bryon could tell Gemma appeared unhappy through the window as she was no doubt sent away. Madison was the only female in the world the twins ever could separate themselves from Gemma for. Even was they fist bonded with Gemma, Madison was a constant topic to fight over. Gemma constantly battled with jealousy. The whole pack knew it, and Madison somehow was never bothered by it. Her brothers were like another authority figure for her to escape from. Remembering the days he and Madison used to hide from her brothers made Byron smile as he pulled his gaze to return it to Madison’s still unconscious form. Byron keeping his place beside Madison’s bed, the twins went to the opposing side. Byron could not remember the last time they seemed so unsure, so fragile. After Madison had left, the twins were shaken. Their emotional states flaring, the whole pack could feel the loss through them. Since then, they had strengthened, became the two pillars holding up the pack. They were unwavering, even when the former Alpha passed on the crown, during times if great loss, attacks and all manner of unspeakable things happened, they remained strong. Resilient and unphased. Though already now, Byron could feel their cool façade slowly melting away. Since they could walk, run and talk, they have loved and defended their little sister. Holding in a chuckle, Byron thought of when he and Madison were young and just starting out their friendship. Encouraged and guided by their mothers, the twins were opposed from the start. A doctor breaking the silence as the door opened, he entered swiftly. As if hesitating to speak, the three commanded as irritation clearly fired across the room. “Speak!” Bowing his head the doctor spoke, “I want to sedate her now while she is calm. It won’t be as traumatic then if we wait. Then we will be able to conduct a proper examination. It will also help with the withdrawal and to assess if the prolonged drug exposure has affected her.” His voice lowering with even more hesitation, he all but whispered. “It can have permeant effects and damage even on wolves.” At the thought of theses torturous days continuing Bryon inwardly cringed as heavy breaths left the twins. These days of seeing and not being able to speak with Madison, not even allowing her to be conscious, it was horrific. Caleb’s voice sounding clearly, his jaw set. “Do it. We want reports 12 hourly. I want to know what happened to my baby sister?” The few words provoking a fear to seep through the doctors skin, Byron and Ardon remained silent. Byron was unsure if he wanted to know, just the sight of her now lifeless and wrecked, weak little body in front of him. It was all too much. Caleb’s eyes lifting to Byron’s, “go home, I had your patrols covered. We will stay with her tonight. Mum is coming shortly.” Standing slowly. Byron leant over placing his lips against Madison’s sleeping forehead. Before leaving, Byron turned back. “Her hands smell like a male. The scent is familiar, but I can’t place it.” Leaving the hospital, the second he was outside, Byron rubbed at his chest. Even after all this time, even though she was not his mate, she could still make him hurt. She could make him burn without even being conscious. Eyes tracking upwards, Byron’s eyes locked with Gemma’s. She may be his Luna, but they never saw eye to eye, she never treated Madison with respect. The twins remaining by Madison’s bed, they had never felt such a struggle. Their father had declared Madison dead after passing on the pack and going out to search for her. He was the reason they stopped looking. Ardon taking Madison’s hand, he brought it to his nose though was unable to catch a familiar scent other then Byron’s. She had so many scents on her, she smelt defiled. The doctor leaving and returning with a drip, he announced when she was properly sedated. Nurses coming in to wash and examine her, the twins waited outside not liking the idea of Madison being alone without someone familiar, even if she was unconscious. The doors flying open at the end of the hall, the twins and Madison’s mother swiftly stepped toward them. Tissues in hand, “where’s our little girl?” Hey guys I hope you enjoy the chapter.
