Chapter 12 – She is Home

1310 Words
Hey guys thanks for reading this chapter of My Torment. As you would know, this book is relatively new and unknown so likes, reviews, and follows would really help me out to get it noticed. If not, all good, just reading is enough. Thank you again for your support!!! Waking from his slumber, Ark smiled as Madi’s scent filled his nose. He had not even intended to fall asleep, he just wanted to watch and hold her close all night. Though the second she slept in his arms, he could do nothing but relax while revelling in her presence. She already meant more to him then words as the bond strengthened from their closeness. Imagining how she would present this morning, his excitement was overwhelming as his eyes shot open. His mind slightly shaken he all but prayed that she would not be afraid, he could handle anything but the look of fear in her eyes. Realizing she was not in the bed next to him like last night, Ark sat up instantly. His eyes scouring around the room, Madi’s scent was still strong. Knowing she had not been out of the bed for long, Ark’s eye darted to the bathroom door. Standing in front of it a mere second later, Ark swiftly knocked against the wood. “Madi. Madi are you in there?” Hearing no response or motion after calling out, Ark rocked back and forward on his feet running out of patients. Desperation and a sense of anxiety kicking in, Ark entered the bathroom cautiously. Looking just inside he saw and heard nothing leading him to open the door the whole way stepping in to find nothing. “NO!” His roar long and loud, his heartbeat pumped in his ears as his chest clenched. Throwing some clothes on, Ark left the room with power having no time to spare. Muscle’s straining, the veins in his neck were all but popping out of his skin. Greeted by Atkin’s and Darius sitting down at the table eating breakfast, Ark’s eyes searched the room. His last hope foiled, something snapped as the pain in his chest grew as if he were splitting open. It was a feeling of loss, he could only describe it as similar to the feeling of the death of a family member. Her scent growing fainter by the second, it was hardly distinguishable among the other scents in the larger room. Darius’ green eyes lighting, his chair screeched back as he ran toward Ark. “Can I see Madi now? Is she feeling better? Has she asked for me?” Instantly sensing Ark’s distress, Atkin’s stood promptly awaiting orders, “Alpha?” His mind and chest thrumming all the harder, Ark knew in that moment that he had lost her. He did not keep an eye on her, and now she was gone. Picturing the fear that flashed in her eyes he wanted to kick himself for not watching over her better. His breath’s becoming heavy and uneven, “send everyone. I want her found, I want her found now!” Heading toward the door to exit the suite, he intended to join the search wanting to try and follow her lingering scent before it faded to nothing. This was his only window, his only opportunity. Ark pausing as footsteps approached the door, the entrance to the suite flung open revealing Arlo. Arlo’s resolve much calmer knowing the female was long gone, his voice sounded. “I am proud of you big brother. It is good to know that you heed my warnings and council. She was going to be trouble and have a negative impact on the pack from the start.” Flashing a smile, Arlo felt a sense of satisfaction that his brother came to his senses kicking out the female. “But don’t worry, I already have some good candidates for…” Cut off, Arlo found his body slammed up against the open door as Ark’s hand curled around his throat holding him in place. “What did you do Arlo? Where is she?” Arlo’s eye bulging and gripping at Ark’s wrists, he struggled as Atkin’s rushed forward trying to step between the two. He never liked Arlo, the obnoxious narcissist of a man, but he knew if in his right frame of mind, Ark would regret his actions. Having no impact, Atkin’s used more space forcing his way between the two severing the contact as Arlo fell to the floor gasping for air. Spluttering on the floor after seconds, Arlo’s raspy voice sounded. “What the f**k is going on with you! An I don’t f*****g know, she left hours ago. Thought you kicked her out.” Darius’ voice snapping everyone out from the intensity of the situation now overwhelming their minds. “WHERE IS MADI?” Darius coming out from Ark’s room, his eyes were red as if on the verge of tears. His little face contorting in anger as he shouted once more. “WHERE IS MADI?” His little body running toward the three men, Ark’s own emotions faltered as he captured his kid brother in his arms. Holding him close to his chest, Darius struggled trying to break free. “I’ll find her Darius. I promise, I’m going to find her.” Ark’s words comforting himself as much as they were comforting his little brother, his eyes closed as distress enveloped him. Her body shaking and trembling non stop, Madison flew into a rage as sweat trickled from her body. “I need it! I NEED IT!” Her short lived reunion in her barely conscious state with her family turning into nothing but ash as her body ran dry. Her only goal and desire to get a hit. Taking turns to stay with her, Byron and her brothers endured hour after endless hour by her side. Her mood swings growing and changing, half the time she did not even recognise their faces as she lashed out or worse feared their approach flinching and hiding in the small room. Vomiting and the sweating persisting, the doctor said they just needed to wait it out. The pain they felt as she begged and pleaded, she attacked and broken down as withdrawal gripped her tightly within its grasp. Byron holding her to his body, he kept her still so she would not hurt herself. She had been at it for hours. Her struggles weaking, yet persisting still, Byron’s heart struggled as he sat on the cold floor with her atop his lap. Her body seemed damaged, but the doctors did not get the chance or opportunity to properly examine her in her current state. Eventually falling unconscious, Bryon felt relief as he lifted Madison gently from the floor slipping her into the hospital bed as he held her hand. His voice dry and weak, “where have you been Madison?” His voice falling to a whisper, “why didn’t you take me with you? All you needed to do was ask?” Clinging tighter to her little hand in his, he pulled it to his lips kissing softly as the scent of a male wolf wafted to his nose from her skin.
