Unmasking the Past

"Mr. Blackwood, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I've tried getting an appointment to see you, but you're a very busy man," Lucas said excitedly to Xavier, extending his hand for a handshake, which Xavier ignored.

He looked around before his gaze settled on the lady whose back was turned to him.

'Could this be the young lady of the Blackwood family? If I can get her on my side, then this contract will be mine,' Lucas said to himself.

Grayson noticed his eyes on Mira and moved closer to block his view.

"It seems that Mr. Green is interested in my fiancée," Grayson said in his usual cold voice, though this time it carried suppressed anger.

"Fiancee?" Lucas said with wide eyes.

He gulped nervously as all the men in the room glared at him. His eyes shifted to the cute baby in Grayson's arms.

'This child really looks like Mr. Knight, could he really be engaged to the mysterious daughter of the Blackwood family?' Lucas thought to himself

"No not at all, Mr. Knight. I was just a bit curious about her." Lucas said laughing nervously as his whole body shook with fear. Finally, he realized what the rumors said about the Blackwood males being scary that just a look would make a grown man pee in his pants.

Enzo walked up to him placing a hand in his shoulder and gripping it tightly making Lucas almost shout in pain, but he still managed to control himself.

"Curiosity kills the cat Mr. Green, especially when it comes to my sister" Enzo said with a terrifying gaze

Lucas was too scared to continue. He literally ran out and tried to catch his breath after ensuring he was far away from them but if he thought he had escaped from the Blackwood brothers, then he was wrong.

The three brothers excused themselves from the room to go look for their new 'friend' while their dad made an excuse and also left making it just Mira, Grayson and the little bun.

Grayson and Mira were holding small conversations with each other while Bella kept staring at the both of them from time to time.

Grayson finally noticed her gaze and said to her "Bambina, do you want to eat your food?" Grayson said in a soft and calm voice he didn't even know he could use, but it was his daughter after all. She was bringing out all the soft spots in him and gradually turning him into her big softie.

Bella nodded her head making her soft brown curls bounce on her forehead making Grayson coo at her cuteness. He picked up her food and fed it to her.

"Why did you refer to me as your fiancée earlier?" Mira asked him

"Because it's the truth" Grayson said simply, but the smirk on his face was highly visible

"But I'm not your fiancée" Mira argued convinced that she and Grayson were absolutely not engaged.

"yes you are. My dad as well as yours made child engagement plans. So you were my fiancée since we were children. It's just a pity that you got married to that bastard" Grayson explained

"But I never knew anything about the engagement" Mira said.

"well it doesn't really matter. I will chase you and make sure that you fall deeply in love with me. I already have Bella on my side" Grayson said feeding some fruits to the little baby.

Over the next few days, Grayson kept visiting the Blackwood's villa and occasionally spent the night there and with each visit, the members of the Blackwood family kept getting even more curious as to why Grayson and Bella looked so much alike and Grayson couldn't hie it anymore.

Grayson and Xander explained what happened and also revealed that Grayson was the one who found out about Lucas' plan and went to save Mira from the fire. They also revealed that Grayson was the one who saved Mira at the airport years before.

By the time they had finished narrating everything, Mira was already moved to tears and was sobbing on Grayson's chest. The family members excused them to give them some privacy as Santiago took the little girl from Grayson.

"Why didn't you tell me about it? I mistook Lucas for you all these years thinking he was the one who saved me. If I had known, I wouldn't even have gotten married to him" Mira said through her tears as Grayson kept patting her back gently trying to calm her down.

He had no idea that she and Lucas got married because if that. If he had known, he wouldn't have let her go through all of that with that Lucas.

He kept muttering how sorry he was until she finally calmed down. Grayson however, still held her tightly as though she would disappear the moment he let go.

They would have continued to stay that way if not for the tiny pair of hands that touched Grayson's legs making Grayson release from the hug smiling at the little bun. He bent down and picked the little girl up into his laps and as though on cue, they both leaned down to give her a kiss on her cheek before enveloping her in a huge, warm hug. Her brothers and dad came out of their hiding place joining them in the hug.

From then on, Grayson started pursuing Mira, and they fell even more deeply in love. Grayson wanted to introduce Mira to his parents because even though the Knight and Blackwood family were close, his parents had not met Mira yet.

His plan was to introduce her to his mother on her birthday which was coming up the following week,, so he took both his beautiful fiancée and adorable daughter to an auction to buy a gift for her birthday but who would have known that there would have been an unsightly encounter with Lucas and Eva. They were about to get one nasty surprise.

The sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of the famous elegant auction house which had a reputation of producing the most expensive, rare and antique auction items and most of the money gotten from these auctions are used for donations which is why this auction house had that reputation.

Grayson stepped off the car adjusting his black Italian suit before turning back and offering his hand to his lovely fiancée who in turn took it and stepped down. The reporters outside immediately took out their cameras and started taking pictures.

After that, Grayson turned back towards the car leaning down a bit to pick up his little princess. He took her in his arms before turning back and intertwining his free hand with his fiancée as they both walked on the red carpet and into the auction house.

Grayson and Mira walked to the front row and to the seats reserved for them and sat down.

Just then, Lucas and Eva made their entry with Lucas wearing an expensive suit with sleek black brogues and Eva wearing a short, red gown which had jewels that shone even more than the chandeliers in the auction hall and heavy makeup which could have been used for a bride and her entire bridal train. To say she was overdressed for the occasion wouldn't even have cut it.
