Chapter 3: Maybe We’ll Find Her

    ‘Are you almost here?’ My Beta, Jaden, mindlinked me.

    ‘I’m walking up now.’ I replied. I opened my car door and hopped out. As I pulled open the door I was bumped into.

    “Sorry.” She quickly announced.

    “It’s okay.” I remarked as she continued to walk past me. I only saw her for a second then I walked through the door. As soon as I got into the diner I spotted Jaden and went to join him at the booth. We greeted each other and the waitress walked over to us and we ordered our food.

    “Hey, I heard about this party for all the CHU freshmen. Do you wanna go?”

    “I don’t man.”

    “She might be there.” He protested.

    “Fine. When is it?”

    “It starts at 10PM.”

    “Did you ask Chris if he wants to come?”

    “The Gamma said he’ll be there.” Jaden finished saying. Then the waitress came over with our food. We ate our food and talked about the pack. After we finished we went up to the register to pay.

    “Here you go…,” Jaden started then looked at her name tag, “Lily.” I rolled my eyes and we walked out of the diner and got into my car. The drive was quick because we weren’t too far from our territory. Once we pulled up we were greeted by patrol guards. They let us pass and we continued up to the pack house. I parked the car and Jaden and I got out and went inside. I took the elevator up to my room and took a quick shower to get ready for the party. It was already 9:30PM when I went to pick out an outfit. I chose a plain, dark grey t-shirt and some black ripped jeans with some sneakers. Then I looked at myself in the mirror and fixed my dark brown hair. I was about to leave my room when Chris mindlinked me.

    ‘Are you almost ready?’

    ‘I just finished, on my way now.’ I replied and then closed the mindlink. I walked out of my room to the elevator and took it to the bottom floor. Since the party was at someone’s house not too far from here we just decided to just walk in human form. Once we arrived it was 10:15PM and it was already pretty packed. Music could be heard from outside and lots of red solo cups were on the lawn.

    ‘Maybe we’ll find her tonight.’ My wolf, Ryder, said hopefully. Jaden, Chris, and I enter the house. There is a mix of freshmen and upperclassmen dancing to mainstream music that I don’t like, and there are some upstairs drinking and talking. Jaden and Chris motion to get drinks, and I follow swiftly behind them. There is a selection of drinks that include: alcohol, water, punch, and lemonade. Chris handed me a cup and filled his cup with alcohol, and so did Jaden and I. I took a sip, but didn’t want to get drunk if she was here, and I left them to search for my mate. I did a lap around the room, then went upstairs, but to my dismay, I could not sense her at all. I traveled back down the stairs to find Jaden flirting with some random girl and Chris dancing to the music. I pulled Chris aside after a while of not finding her and told him I wanted to leave.

    “What time is it?” Chris shouted over the loud music.

    “It’s 11:45, can we go now?” I yelled back.

    “Yeah, let’s go.” We make our way to the door as I mindlink Jaden.

    ‘We’re gonna head out, you coming?’

    ‘Nah, I’m gonna stay back, but I’ll meet you back at the pack house in a few.’ With that, I closed the mindlink and we walked to the back of the house. As soon as we were far enough away from everyone, we took off our shirts and pants as we shifted into our wolf forms. I look over and see Chris’ tan-colored wolf with darker streaks of hair throughout his fur. We took off through the woods to our territory, carrying our clothes in our jaws. We reached the tree line, shifted back, and changed into our clothes as we walked to the pack house.

    Once we reached the packhouse, we headed to the elevator. When Chris got off the elevator, I nodded “goodnight” to him and made it to my floor. I got to my room and laid in bed.

    ‘We’re going to find her, I can feel it.’ Ryder assured me.

    ‘I hope so.’ I replied before I drifted off to sleep.
