DAXTON
King Sebastian and Queen Moira walk back through the entrance to the cafeteria looking dumbfounded, I would feel the same had my guests put on a performance such as that. Sebastian whispers something in Moira's ear, and they look over to us. They nod their heads and sit back at the table, facing me and Axel. "Sorry about that, sometimes things don't go as planned. So Alpha, what brings you here? I understand that you grew up here, is that right?" The King asks me. "Yes, I grew up here with my mother, father and brother. Actually, My father was the Alpha to the Blackstorm pack. I'm positive you may remember them, they did stay on the same lands as we are currently residing." "Alpha Collin was your father?" Sebastians asks me, looking stunned. I take a deep breath and exhale "Yeah, my mother was also Luna Anna, they were killed when I was just 6 years old, it was determined that rogues killed them. They were on a walk with my baby brother when it happened and I feel really guilty because I should have been with them that night." I said the last part softly, but he still heard me. Damn werewolf hearing. "Son, don't be too hard on yourself. One thing I have learned in my lifetime is that some things just can't be prevented." He replied. "Yeah, I don't like to talk about it much, so I'd rather not get into it further at this time." I say to him apologetically, I don't know who I can trust, I've only been here less than 2 weeks. I need to get a feel for the people around me before I offer any sense of letting my guard down. "No biggie, sometimes pain seeps into the inner depths of our mind, and it can be debilitating. I don't want to cause anymore trauma than what you have already endured. Now on to our meeting topic, Would you like to discuss a potential alliance, or do you wish to remain neutral?" He asks me, and I already know my anwer. "I would love an alliance, my pack could use the hospitality while we're getting settled in. An alliance with you would help us out." I told him, knowing that this alliance could help me in the near future, especially with any information we need or help in general. He already has a contract drawn up, he places it on the table in front of me. It just states the basic things such as being there for each other in times of trouble and anything else eachother may need. He hands me a pen, and I sign it and slide it back to him. "I think we should get going, we still have a few things to do at the old packhouse." I politely tell him, not trying to seem to rush off, but I think we've concluded all we need to today, especially with the awkward visit with the Alpha and Luna who came with their son. "That's alright young Alpha, I look forward to more conversations with you in the future." He says while reaching to shake my hand, I indulge, and Moira joins in "Thank you two for coming by, it's nice to see new faces around here." she gives Axel and I both a hug before waving us off to our car. I hop in my 85 newly restored fully black on black camaro, and take off with the engine roaring.
"Axel, what did you think about our evening back there?" I ask him, knowing he felt the same way I did. "I don't know Dax, but there's definitely something funny going on. Did you see the way that Luna was looking at you? It's almost as if you're someone who died and came back to life." Axel laughed, and I didn't think it was as funny because that woman made my stomach hurl. "Did you see the boy they brought with them? What do you have to say about that? Do you not think he may resemble me and my mother and father,?" I question him, the question has been burning my tongue since they had quickly left the castle. "Wait, Dax, you're not thinking what I think you are, are you?" He asks, curiosity burning in his gaze. " Honestly Ax, I don't know what to think. I mean anything is possible, and considering how everything went down, I have to look at every scenario here." I have a gut feeling, but we can't jump the gun until we know more than what we currently do. I know I can't be so bold as to just go on looks and a hunch, but I hope my hunch is right.
We pull up to the driveway of my packhouse, still the same way my father had it built. I didn't want to make any changes until we have all the answers that we need, and then maybe we will be able to make new memories in honor of my mother and father. Me and Axel walk up the stone steps through the entrance to the 3 story white building, my dad's former Beta waiting to greet us. "So how did it go?" Allen asks me before we barely made it through the door "It went good, we formed an alliance with the King, and he'll be there should we ever need him for anything, and vice versa" I reply, and he looks taken aback. "Well that was fast, I didn't think he would be so willing on the first day he met you." Allen snarks at me, and I'm not quite understanding what his problem is. "What's so wrong about that? Always expect the unexpected." I tell him non chalantly, and direct Axel to come with me to my office on the 2nd floor. I sit at deep cherry brown wooden desk in the far right corner of the room, and open the screens to my dual head computer to see if we have anything new to address, and to check on the statistics of my company. I've left my business partner, Dale, in charge of keeping up with it and doing what needs to be done. "Where are you planning to start on info for the Luna and Alpha from earlier?" Axel asks me. Before I get a chance to answer, my office phone rings.
"Hello, Alpha Daxton's office." Axel answers. I can't tell who is on the other line, and he doesn't tell me. He just hands me the phone. "Hello Alpha, My wife and I have some things we would like to discuss, in private, if you're up for it." King Sebastian wants to have another meeting. I wonder what it could be about that we need to meet privately, snd for him to address it as so. "Could you both come to my pack office tomorrow?" I inquire, he agrees to come around 2 p.m. tomorrow, and we hang up the phone. "What was that about?" "They want to have another meeting with me. Tomorrow. Said they have things they want to discuss in private." Axel looks at me wide eyed. "Maybe it's something you can look forward to." He implies to me, and I can't help but keep hope that maybe there's a lot more to all of this than I thought. I let Axel know I'm gonna head off to bed, and he does the same. Tomorrow is awaiting, and I don't think I've had so many thoughts in my head to what could possibly bring them to have another meeting with me so quickly.
I hit the snooze button on my alarm clock, ringing at 5 a.m. I normally get up around this time to train with the warriors of my pack. We were able to acquire more members since we left Crownsmere after our tragedy. Allen had helped a lot in that regard, inviting anyone who needed solace and a place to stay. We were able to gather around 300 wolves to add to the 200 we had left from my father's pack, making us a total of 500 wolves as of today. 250 of those members are our highly trained warriors. Some of those wolves were orphans like Axel and I, I tend to have a soft spot for them since I was left in that position so long ago. It's nice to have people that aren't so different from me, besides our genetics with me being a lycan and all, who understand the struggles of being alone with no one to really call family, not by blood tie anyway. I find myself staring at the ceiling, lost in thought. I wipe away my racing mind and take the plunge to get up, and go downstairs to get some breakfast. When I get to the pack kitchen, our omegas are already preparing a big fulfilling breakfast. Eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, pancakes and waffles line our prep table, and my stomach starts to growl. Our chef, Kohn, Makes me a plate of everything and hands it to me, and I take it to the main table in our dining room, which is more like the size of a huge gym to accomodate all of our members easily. Allen is sitting at the table before me, breakfast already halfway gone. "What brings you here so early? I thought I would be the first one down here for atleast the first one here before everyone else arrives." I ask Allen. "I couldn't get much sleep, so decided to come down here instead. What's up with you? You're starting to get distant from me" Allen looks at me questioningly, and I can't tell him that I've been getting weird vibes from him since we made the journey back to Crownsmere. Since we've been here he seems alot more on edge. I know my father was his best friend, but I thought he would be just as giddy to get answers as I am. "I've just got alot on my mind, Allen. Given the circumstances, you should understand." "Oh I understand quite alright, If I'm a bother to you, I could always head out elsewhere." He replies menacingly, I dont know what he expects from me. "Allen, this is not something I want to discuss with you right now, Maybe another time, But I have important matters to tend to rather than talking about my feelings." He didn't seem to like my response so he stood up and stormed off. There's something up with him, and I'm going to figure out what it is. I think it's best if we keep eyes on him for awhile. I mind-link Axel, knowing he's awake already, and let him know what Im thinking. He agrees, he's also noticed the change of heart in Allen since we've arrived back here, and not in a good way.
Axel comes down to join me for breakfast after our mind-link. We quickly eat our food and decide to go to the gym in our finished basement, which has all the machinery any other gym would use, my dad made sure to install this as he used training and work-outs to ease his mind, especially when he was having a hard or stressful day dealing with pack duties. By the time we're done, we head up to our rooms to take a shower and get ready before the King and Queen arrive for their visit. No one knows they're coming but me and Axel, but I quickly decided that when anyone asks, I'll tell them they just want to discuss more with our alliance and check out our packhouse and grounds. No one would have anything to say about that, and I'd like to keep it that way until we find out what they want further with me.
