Fired

The last Memory

Everything dissolved and then Sam found himself in a hospital. He looked around and found that it was the same hospital in which his mother had passed away.

"No!",he shouted,"I CANT RELIVE THAT! TAKE ME BACK!"

No one listened. The younger Sam didnot appear. 

Sam found a younger version of himself, pacing up and down the corridor. The doctors came out and told the young Sam that he could go in. And, they said something to him which made tears well up to his eyes. 

The younger Sam went inside and Sam followed. 

A lady, with tired eyes was resting on the bed, breathing deeply.

"Mom?",said the younger memory version of Sam.

"John...how are you?",asked the woman

"Mom!",he shrieked,"It's you who is in bed! Stop caring so much about me mom!"

"But you will always be my baby..... What did the doctors say?",she asked

"The doctors...umm....the doctors said that they are not sure about your condition...",said the 14-year old Sam. 

The woman smiled and said,"Stop lying to me baby... You still twiddle your thumb when you lie. What did they say"

The young Sam couldn't control and he shouted,"They said you are gonna die today!!",and hugged her.

Lily's expression remained unchanged.

"I am sorry",she said," I didn't want to leave you John..."

"It's not your fault mom! And you are not going anywhere! We are going to find dad and the three of us are going back to New Jersey!", shrieked young Sam , tears all over his face.

"New York City is beautiful",she said, smiling.

"Yes mom! Or...maybe the three of us could stay here? Maybe we can live here in New York? You will live mom... The doctors are lying.... They don't know how strong you are",he said, sobbing

Lily was willing herself not to cry and said," Yes my child....my brave little boy...I will be with you...I will always be with you, here!"

And, she put her finger on his chest.

"Yes mom, you will stay here as well as there!",said Sam pointing at her mother,"You are not leaving me! Ofcourse you are not!"

"Son...why don't you go out there and get a walk? Or go back to the hotel and pack our things?", suggested Lily

"But....I don't wanna leave you alone",said Sam

"No, you won't be leaving me, I told you, I will always be there in you...I wi be waiting for you...Just go out and clear your head , okay? ",said Lily smiling.

"Okay",he said, standing up and kissing her forehead,"I will just be out there"

And he turned around , reached the door, and then turned back to glance at his mother who kept smiling and then went out.

All this while Sam was standing there, seeing everything, tears pouring down his cheeks. And, the scene changed. The younger Sam was standing infront of Sam and he said,"So Sam, did you see?"

Sam nodded

"I should have never left her",said Sam,"I lied to her.... I told her that I didn't want to leave her alone,but the truth was that I didn't want to be alone. I was scared. New York was a beautiful city and I .....was lost.... I didn't want to be alone... And then... when I left her, I got a call from the hospital, saying that my mother had passed away. I didn't believe it....I didn't want to believe it... And, and.....when I went to see her, the doctors wouldn't let me see her....I got a glimpse and saw her face....she looked peaceful.... I envied her, and for a painful moment...I hated her, for leaving me alone. It was like... drowning, no father, and mother dead, and..... No one I knew... I didn't know the way to the hotel and I had no money. I had my phone but I didn't know whom to call.... I was so lost , I was crying and wandering on the streets.... Then I met Marie... She took me in, and now... I lost her too...."

"Sam", said the younger calmly,      " Don't believe everything you hear... Just don't"

"What do you mean?",Sam asked

"Just take this advice.... Don't believe everything you hear",said younger Sam

"I took you through all those memories because, I wanted you to see what you have...Sam, you told me that you have nothing, and you said that you have no purpose to fight, no reason to live on... But, when I took you through all those memories , all those memories where your parents loved you, they did everything to assure your happiness except that they left you, but.... They had faith in you.... They knew it. They knew you were strong enough to endure anything, they sacrificed themselves to make sure that they lived on, through you, they died but you are going to live and make things right! Who said that you have nothing? You have everything, right here, in your heart. Your mother, loved you till her last breath. Are you just going to give away your life so easily? If Ronald is the darkness then you are the light, Sam. Never give in to darkness"

"But..... My mother....did Ronald kill her?",Sam asked

The younger Sam looked into Sam's eyes and said,"You will get the answer, from the one person you won't expect to"

"Why do you keep answering my questions so twistedly?! Why not just give a straight answer?",asked Sam

"I can't, even if I know, I can't", said the younger Sam,"But Sam, you are going to fix everything, you are all the hope this world has got against Ronald. These guys you are around , they have faith in you, your mother had faith in you, your father and sister had faith in you. They all believed in you. Don't let them down! Don't.... Time...is a strange thing....It will ruin everything and then it fixes, it takes Everything from you...and then it gives"

"Gives what?",asked Sam

The younger Sam didn't reply to that question and just said," Don't give up Sam, keep hoping, if you ever feel weak, then Remember what your parents always said about you....You are the strongest kid. Keep hoping. Everyone has faith in you"

Saying this the younger Sam held Sam's hand and everything darkened. Sam heard a voice saying, 'Time to go back to your dimension'.

Sam opened his eyes and found William , Oliver and Bolan sitting around Sam's bed and crying. 

'Is this real? Am I back ? Or is it another memory?', thought Sam

"Hey?",said Sam, trying to get up

All the three of them looked up in surprise and Oliver just gasped and hugged him while William gasped, "How?"

"Was I gone out for too long?",asked Sam.

"You were dead!", exclaimed Bolan

"Ummm.....no...I was just passed out...",said Sam

"The doctors said that they did everything they could! And...that you were gone....",said William

"Sam did you go to the dream realm again?",asked Oliver

"No",lied Sam

"What was it all about? What were saying about your father and sister?",asked Oliver

"Ummm....well I guess I have a lot of explaining to do.... My father and sister were not who I said they were..",said Sam,"They were Leo Michaelson and Marie Valdez"

Bolan and William stared gravely at Sam while Oliver was still recovering from the fact that Sam had just come back to life
