POV: Elizabeth
My mother quickly began to speak before I could react to the fact that our covens greatest enemy was having tea in my mothers office.
"Elizabeth you know that we are at war, and we have been since long before you were born, long before I was born either for that fact. Our people only know war. Our kids are not allowed to travel from our borders as we once did in tradition in fear they would never return. We, as a people are exhausted. We have been fighting our whole lives." She barely paused to breathe.
"I am destined to end this war. As you know our prophecies have foretold it will end on the night of the 100 year anniversary, which is the first day of summer.
Jasper and I have been meeting in secret for a year now. His people want to end the war just as badly as we do. We've found a solution to bind our families. To stop the fighting indefinitely Elizabeth."
My mother and Jasper shared a long look in silence. She seemed to be struggling to find the words to say.
"You're to marry my son, Elizabeth." Jasper said for her. "As soon as the arrangements have been finalized you shall move into the pack house on my territory and finish your senior year there. You two shall be wed on the first day of summer, the anniversary of the war. Then the war will finally be over"
I was shocked and just sat there staring at them. I wanted to get up and scream at them. I wanted to yell that I wasn't a bargaining chip to be used when convenient.
I wanted to break the table and the stupid porcelain cup Jasper was sipping his tea from. As my anger bubbled I felt my magic growing. I felt my magic slowly leaking out, and the table began to slightly shake.
3 deep breaths. 3 deep breaths. I told myself. I couldn't even lose control again. Not after what happened as a kid.
The table stopped rattling and my mother began talking, almost without a notice of how close I had come to exploding.
"I know it's always been the plan for you, as my first born daughter, t take over here as the high priestess, but you have a younger sister that will rule wonderfully. We will begin her training immediately. You will be the future Luna of the Winter Woods pack."
Again I sat in silence refusing to speak, I didn't trust myself to hold my temper if I tried.
"I am sorry Jasper, she is incredibly shy. I'm sure once she warms up to you she will be much more talkative." My mother told Jasper.
The Alpha sighed and looked at his watch. "It's best I head back to my own territory, Lady Aurora. Thank you for inviting me over and allowing me to be here when you told Elizabeth. I shall expect her next week?" He said addressing my mother and all but ignoring me.
"Yes, Alpha Jasper. She will be arriving early next week. Thank you for coming. I am looking forward to ending this terrible war between our people." And with my mothers last word he gave a curt nod, which my mother returned and then he briskly walked to the office door and disappeared down the hall.
"I know this is not what you had expected of your life Liz," my mother said sitting back down. "but you're a royal, sometimes we must make sacrifices for our people. We will announce it to the coven as the Yule ball, I will find an excuse for the coven to cover your absence until then."
I felt myself beginning to lose control of my magic again. Without a word I got up and ran from the house. I couldn't lose control in front of someone again. I ran out of the house and into the woods out back.
I ran for what felt like forever. Tears streaking down my face. I could barely see and I tripped over something sticking out of the ground. falling towards the ground I screamed.
I landed on my hands and my knees, I felt my power bubbling to the surface. My skin burned as it began to pour out of me with my sobs and my screams. I felt my power bursting out from me. A combination of ice and just raw power was destroying the land around me. After what felt like an hour I felt darkness overcome me as my power finally sizzled out.
