Running Winds

We left early the next morning. I clutched my bag tightly to my chest. I breathed in the cool September air. I had dressed in cowgirl cut jeans, a long sleeve black shirt and a pair of comfortable shoes. I checked my phone, September 15th, it was 6:30 AM. I started up the car, giving it time to get warm for Alpha Cole. It wasn't anything fancy, a silver Jetta with blacked out windows. I listened as the Alpha and his Luna came down to the front of the pack house, I hopped out; opening the back door for him. "Good morning Alpha Cole, Luna Heaven." I bowed my head in respect. My hair was pulled back in a tight bun today, showing the mark I had been graced with. I guess today would be the best time to show it off. 

My Luna smiled at me, embracing me in a hug, "Bring him back to me...Lycan's are dangerous." I hugged her back tightly, "I will my Luna, my bestfriend." With that, I got the Alpha in the car and we were off. The start to the drive was silent, I know he was reading over the file and reports sent to him by the Lycan's Gamma. I heard him clear his throat, "Yes Alpha?" I asked curiously, "Please in the car you can call me Cole." He said softly. I nodded in understanding. 

"You've been my Beta a couple months now. Tell me, does it make any sense that conveniently after the attack the amount of prey; even the human's livestock went down?" His voice curious. "No Cole that makes no sense. Seems to coincidental. " I paused, choosing my next words carefully, "It seems like as soon as you found your Luna; and we all were distracted by the New Moon Ball they took this opportunity to see how week our defenses were. Not only that; it seems whoever is doing this is trying to starve our packs out." He grunted in agreement reading again. "Seems too smart to be Rogue." I commented. His eyes shot up, "Careful repeating that to anyone other than me, that would see like an upraising to the Lycan's." He had worry in his words. 

I giggled a bit, "My apologies, I'll mindlike it next time." His laugh rang in my ears. I drove for the next couple of hours making small talk. "Sir, we are here." I said as I felt a growl creep up my chest as I looked at the giant home. It was a castle at this point; it was beautiful I had to admit, the Lycan's have taste. I saw a large man standing outside; my chest started to hurt; my heart felt like it was going to explode. I shifted uncomfortably, as I pulled up, another joined the strange man. I got out of the car, holding my head high as I opened the door for my Alpha. Bowing in respect to all 3 men before me. 

I felt his eyes on me, making my skin grow hot. It felt like I could hardly breath; my wolf going mad inside of my head. Then the pain I felt next couldn't be compared to anything. My mark was stinging, burning like my soul was being ripped from me. I was trying my best to remain composed, but I could see the smug look on that Lycan's face. Cole looked at me, then back to the Lycan. "This is my Beta, Devika." He introduced me. The Lycan's Beta stretched his hand our, "I'm Kyle, Beta here." He was polite enough, and not bad looking either. 

6'1, short black hair. A chiseled jaw, a muscular frame. He was an attractive man, but I felt nothing more than thinking his was good-looking. "This is Alpha Dimitri." Cole stated, shaking the other Alpha's hand. Everything seemed to get silent around me as I locked my grey orbs with his. My breathing started to pick up as fear shot through me. Honey and Lavender. I remembered that scent from that night, this was the wolf that attacked me. I suppressed a snarl as I stood tall and proud before him. "Please come inside, we can sit and have a cup of coffee and discuss your reports." Dimitri said welcoming us inside.

Wolves walking into a lions den. I felt on edge, like I wanted to run away. My wolf pleading for me to throw myself at him; to give him whatever he desired of my body. I felt disgusted, this man marked me then ran; and now he was starving out my pack? I couldn't believe this. 

The Alpha's sat down, us Beta's stood behind them. I was glaring at the Alpha and I think he knew it, occasionally those green orbs would connect with mine. "We've had a fall in prey, as well as I've had numerous complaints about the human's livestock disappearing." Cole stated, watching the Lycan's expression. He didn't seem fazed; but I saw a bit of worry in his eyes. "You must think I had something to do with it?" I knew he was addressing me, but I didn't say a word. "We have been having the same issue, I truly though maybe your pack was over hunting. However, I can see this is an issue between our lines." Dimitri stated, sipping his coffee. "Tell me Beta, did you see anything strange on the way up here?" He asked me. I swallowed, my mouth suddenly felt dry, "No sir, I did notice there wasn't as many deer and the grasses were over grown greatly. I didn't think anything of it." I said, shocked a bit to see he was right. 

"I think we are dealing with more than just rouges here Alpha Cole," He paused, looking at me again, "These rogues have intel on how both of our packs are ran. How our patrols go." He paused, looking at my alpha now. "One of us has a traitor in the pack." He leaned back, letting Cole take it all in. "I suppose you are right, they would have to know when our patrols would be out as well as yours. Especially if we alternate times," Cole stated now lost in thought. I couldn't take my eyes off Dimitri, I felt anger bubbling up inside me. I couldn't get over he was the wolf that attacked me. "What do you suppose we do?" Cole asked, leaning in now; drinking his coffee. "Since I have a large pack number, I will send two Lycan's to stay with you. I will also up my patrols to not only patrol yours but ours as well. We need to stay on patrols, making sure we have it set up that our patrols will intersect at least once every two hours." It sounded like the Lycan alpha had already been planning this. 

"That sounds like a great plan, and when we find the traitor?" Cole asked. A devilish grin appeared on the Lycan's face, his eyes on me again.

"I'll handle them personally."
