Chapter 1: It’s Time

4 years later

Thunk, swat, kick… and off went the punching bag as I pummeled into it. My anger growing as I thought of last nights painful dream no memories.

“Damn Mira..any harder and the bag would have split open. And I’d have to buy another one again this week, you really need to get laid or something “yelled my trainer and best friend Michael.

I spit up my water as I was chugging it..Reign giggling at his comment in my head…he is not wrong.

“Shut up, I needed to let out some steam.” I said matter of factly.

He quirked up his left eyebrow at me and said “Well can you break someone else’s equipment. Derek and I have a business to run ya know, we can’t keep wasting money and buying equipment every time you need to let off steam.”

“Oh let her babe, she pays for her right to be here monthly just as everyone else does.” Came the voice of Derek in coming in through the Front Door as he swooped down and gave him a kiss.

Derek and Michael what can I say. Life long partners, mates and my best friends. They took me in after they found me at the train station in Lubbock sitting in the rain crying. They were on their honey moon, enjoying their relationship as new found mates when they stumbled upon me. Derek the softer one, took one look at me and said “Come on Honey, you are coming home with us..” while he and Michael shared a look of understanding. Michael the stronger but silent type of the two looked at me and simply nodded as he reached

Down and grabbed my bag.

I was about to say something when Reign stopped me “Trust them Mira…I feel something with them. We need them..”

I simply looked at them two as I knew they were wolves and could scent them easily. Not rogues but definitely not park of a pack either..I trusted Reign with everything so I nodded my head and stood up. “ I am Mira..”

And so began our friendship. They knew everything about me and I about them. I trusted them with my life and I knew Reign was right. We did need them, they kept me sane, alive and helped me survive the dreams and nightmares of my past. They even stayed by my side as I felt the mate bond between Finnick and I be betrayed.

Exactly 1 year after I ran away this ultimate pain pierced my heart. I felt as I was being torn apart from the inside out. I felt as though I was dying..Derek knew

Right away what was happening. He held my hand and hugged me as I withered and cried out in pain. It happened a few more times the next couple of months until eventually my mark had begun to fade away until a mere outline was left. And Reign who was once strong and a force to be reckoned with was now quiet making an appearance every now and then.

Michael upon learning what happened, took it upon himself to train me to get stronger everyday. He was a trainer in the human world with previous warrior training while Derek was the co owner of the Gym they owned. They left their pack when Michaels parents showed their disapproval of having a gay warrior son, while their alpha and Luna were accepting of it. But because of the constant states and hostility by Michaels family and a few pack members they asked for permission to leave the pack to travel. While the Alpha held no disgust he knew it would be better for the two so he allowed it.

And the rest is history…they found me, nurtured me and showed me kindness when no one. Not even my family showed me that.

As I stayed with them, and grew out of shell of who I once was. I eventually got up from my depression and then found a job as a wedding planner and photographer. I guess you could say being a Luna for 15 years had its perks, so I applied what I knew how to do & opened a business. I named it after my wolf Moon Reigns Weddings.. within a year my business grew. I had clientele from all over the world. Wolf and Humans both, came to me to plan their weddings and photograph them.

Yet despite it all, I could not let the past go. I needed to know who framed me, and who was out to destroy my life. I needed my revenge and I would get it no matter the price. I would show Finnick and the children who would be coming of age at 17 a few days before my 35th birthday how wrong they were to believe that I would commit treason and murder…that I would harm them.

Kari’s words replayed in my mind “35th birthday..until your powers manifest..”

Flashback

I always knew I was different growing up. My wolf was larger than most at 13 when I first shifted. She was also midnight black, blue eyed with a moon imprinted on her forehead. A Moon symbolized a blessed wolf from the Moon Goddess. Kari was with me when I first shifted, she immediately saw the moon and panicked. I remember her telling me, we needed to hide the moon as it would make me a target to other wolves.

She took me to a friend of hers, a white witch named Niadora.Who put a block on the moon from appearing to anyone looking at me…Kari said it was necessary and I would understand when I was older. She told me to never mention this again to anyone other than her.

As I wanted to argue with her and demand to know why, Reign took over for the first time her soft melodic voice coming through me“Yes Kari, I know what to do. We will not fail mother this time.”

Kari smiled at her voice “Ah, you are already stronger with this one Reign,”

“Yes, she is the one we were waiting for,”Reign said as she used me to nod.

Kari sighed and stroked my cheek, “We still have a long time to go, just guide her and help her become who she is meant to be. I can only be of help so much.”

I felt Reign Nod and give me back control. “Kari? What do you mean?”

Kari looked at me and said “ All will be revealed my child when the time comes, for now you must always trust in Reign. Let her lead you until the time comes. For now live your life and enjoy it.”

Flashback ends

With my 35th birthday coming closer I felt Reigns Presence more and more. Stronger than before. My healing rate becoming quicker, my speed faster than ever. But I couldn’t help but wonder what powers I would come into..I am just a wolf.

Reign snorted “We are more than just a wolf..”

“Well tell me, what you know..I think I’ve proven I can handle anything.”

“Not until Kari says it’s time..”-Reign huffed

“Kari? We have not heard from Kari since we escaped. She could be dead or gone..”

Reign growled “She is not dead, she is a guardian. She is in hiding. I would sense if she would have died. Now stop with the comments.” Before she retreated back into my mind.

“Ughhhh seriously” I yelled.

Derek and Michael looked up and laughed. Derek said “Arguing with Reign again?”

I simply nodded. Michael laughed even more before saying “so much for being a quiet calm wolf..”

Before I could say anymore the front doorbell jingled and in came a UPS driver with an envelope. He looked at us 3 and said “ReignAndrews? Of Moon Reigns Weddings?”

“Um yes that is me, why am I receiving mail here? This is a Gym,” I stated looking at the driver.

“Look lady, I don’t know, I just deliver where I am supposed to.” He shrugged before walking away.

As I looked at him walk away, I began to tuck the envelope in my gym bag when Reign surged forward surprising myself, Derek and Michael,

“No, open it now! Look at the address it’s coming from.”

I glanced down “ 1778 Dusty Moon Lane, Lubbock Tx” I stood still. Shock coursing through. No one knew where I was at. I mean I didn’t exactly stay hidden but I used Reigns name as my first name for the business.

I looked up at Derek and Michael, both with their mouths hanging up, I slowly tore it open. Inside was a single sheet of paper with two words on it.

“It’s Time.”
