The rest of the week goes by in a blur of frustration and anxiety. I spend my time training and hanging out with Mia—both of us annoyed and worried because all our family members are constantly engaged in patrolling and security duties, along with the rest of the shifted wolves in our pack. That means that, yet again, I scarcely see my mom, and our times together are brief and rushed. Ethan I see even less. He is either away or sleeping, and the only contact we have is when he drags himself into my room in the middle of the night and passes out exhausted.
