22 THE DOG Antoinette Marino smiled as she made her way through the corridors of Cybernetic Implementation. The go-ahead for hiring had been given after the dinner with Carlos Oreta. On the day after the interview, Peter Valois had called her with the news, and then had pressured his “girlfriend” Marcia in Personnel to fax the official offer immediately. That was several weeks back. Valois was happy on two counts, both of which he made clear on her arrival: her qualifications were a fit for the position, and she was immediately available.
