EPISODE 001
Eunha was standing on the balcony, gazing up at the sky. Tonight had no stars. Nothing but a vast, empty sky. She thought it looked good, though. A faint, melancholy smile appeared on her lips.
"The sky remained the same," she thought. the same as my life. I started over because I believed I was done with my previous life. But no. "Stop dreaming, Eunha," life whispered as it yanked me back. Here is where you belong. You can't get away from him.
With a deep sigh, she turned to go inside. However, as she took a step forward, Joonho was watching her from the door. He was grinning as if nothing was wrong.
She did not return the smile.
Of course, she was his wife, but not voluntarily. The title of "husband" made her love him. She couldn't stand him, to be honest.
Eunha's icy, hateful brown eyes were fixed on him. It made no difference that he was one of the most attractive men she had ever seen. Not for her. The way someone acts cannot be concealed by appearances. The way someone treats you matters more than their appearance. How about Joonho? At one point, he had treated her like garbage.
He was attempting to appear as though he had changed. As if he was superior.
Hoping that he would simply move, she approached the room, but he blocked her path. stopping her. Without saying a word, she paused and raised her gaze to him, asking, "What do you want now?"
His grin slightly dimmed. Despite his pain, he continued to smile.
Joonho did his best to remain composed. He was aware of her hatred toward him. was aware that there was no way to undo the harm he had caused. Still, he wished.
He reached out and gently grabbed her, pulling her into an embrace from behind when she attempted to move around him. He leaned in close to her ear, resting his chin on her shoulder.
His voice was deep, and he whispered, "Jagiya, what were you looking at?" “Will you show me?”
She twisted her face in annoyance. That intimacy, that voice—it meant something else once. It only made her angry now. Nevertheless, there was a mocking smirk that developed in her twisted lips. With a slight head tilt, she responded in a chilly, piercing voice.
"Yes, Nim," as you would like.
That word hit him hard. He was frozen. His expression was pained. He thought of the past she kept bringing up. All those terrible things he had done. He wanted to forget certain things. She wouldn't allow him, though.
He claimed to have changed, but that didn't matter to her. He would always be that same man in her eyes. the person who broke her.
Joonho was eager to go ahead and create something new, but Eunha? Her only glance was back. She avoided him at all times. rarely spoke to him unless absolutely necessary. He kept attempting to be near her because of this. He wanted to be near, even if it was just for a few minutes.
One day, he still thought she would love him. It was certain to him. He believed in her love, even if she didn't believe in his. Or that staying was her only option.
Still holding her from behind, he began to move toward the balcony's edge. She didn't relax either, but she also didn't fight him.
"The sky is beautiful even without stars, isn't it?" He whispered that and kissed the top of her head.
After a brief period of silence, she mockingly said, "Yeah, Nim," similar to my life, which is starless and dark because of you.
He took a moment to close his eyes. That was a pain. She would always knock him back down just when he thought he was getting better. Gently he spun her around so she was facing him.
Joonho assisted her in sitting on the balcony island's edge by holding her by the waist. Squeezing his shoulder for support, she stiffened. He refused to let go. Their faces were inches apart because he stood so close.
"I am aware of my error. You were mistreated by me. Bad, but worse. But now, I'm not that person. I had a change. owing to you. I would prefer not to be called Nim. Never did you before... Therefore, why now? Emotion was evident in his voice.
She turned her head back.
“You instructed me to. Back then.
But that was just one evening. I never enquired again after that.
"I didn't follow your instructions before. So I'm doing it right now. What do you want from me?
Pained once more, he sighed.
"Please just stop. Don’t call me that, please.
Anger lifted her voice.
But you are my Nim, aren't you? I abide by each and every one of your rules. Whatever you say, I do it. like a faithful servant. And now you are once more issuing commands. You made sure my family was safe and married me, a nobody. I owe you for it. Yes, Nim. But only behind closed doors, right? Wouldn't want your parents to know the truth.
Her words were sharp. She was holding on to all of it. For six months. Six months of feeling guilty. She never saw his kindness, no matter how hard he tried. Never thought it was true.
With sorrowful eyes, he took a small step back and spoke softly.
I'm aware that I was the worst. I don't assume you'll forget everything. But Eunha, I'm trying. I really am. Give me an opportunity, please.
Leaning closer, he planted a kiss on her cheek.
She flinched.
He then gave her a gentle lip kiss.
She was frozen.
Her thoughts froze for a moment. Then, with a racing heart, she quickly withdrew.
Joonho did not stop her. He turned away.
She climbed down and silently gazed at him.
With a gentle grin, he extended his hand once more and took her hand.
Let's return. It is growing chilly.
He took her in his bridal arms and entered the room before she could speak.
She didn't object. She didn't speak. She didn't even give him a look.
He carried her into the bedroom and laid her down on the bed. Then he strolled over and lay down next to her. He kissed her head and put his arms around her, drawing her close from behind.
"Jagiya, good night."
She remained immobile. She failed to respond. She had grown accustomed to this routine, this phoney intimacy. as if she were accustomed to detesting him.
Each of them dozed off.
With Eunha, Joonho never lost his temper. She used his feelings of love for her as a weapon by saying hurtful things. However, he never spoke louder. remained there. Simply, he remained. Waiting.
However, her hatred remained unwavering.
Eunha arose the following morning and took a seat on the bed. Despite looking around, she failed to spot him.
She did not give a damn.
She got up, showered, and went downstairs to have breakfast. She noticed Sooyeon close to the table as she descended the stairs and smelt the aroma of food.
Her mouth curled into a smile.
"Sooyeon, good morning."
“Good morning, sister-in-law!” With a broad, happy smile, Sooyeon said brightly.
Eunha felt a little lighter. She always felt like family to Sooyeon.
Eunha turned to face Mrs Han in the kitchen after taking a brief look at the dining table laden with dishes.
She approached her and gave her a soft back hug.
"Hello, Eomeonim."
Mrs Han looked up at her and grinned. Greetings, my love. Do you have any food?
Not yet, but I will in the near future. "Where are Chairman Dae-jung and Abeonim?"
They're in the living room. Did you not notice them? With a faint giggle, her mother-in-law enquired.
No, I didn't. Now I'll go see them.
When Eunha approached the living room, Mrs Han nodded.
