Elena's POV I drove straight home from the hospital at the expense of my own life. At the speed I was going, I would have ended up on the wrong side of a bridge. It was late. Too late to call anyone or do anything useful, but there was no way my racing heart was going to slow down on its own tonight. When I walked in, I assumed the house would be dark and empty, and I could fall apart in private. The living room was dark. But it was not empty.
