(Four months later)
I've been working at Anderson for four months now. My life has been relatively easy up to this point, but my boss has assigned me a multitude of tasks with no respite. I recall him assigning me tasks as if I was a machine.
(FLASHBACK)
"Please come to my office right away." Mr. Anderson's booming voice came through the intercom; hearing his voice, anyone can tell that he is angry at something or someone. I knocked twice on his office door and heard 'come in.' I took a deep breath before entering his office, knowing that I would be given additional work.
"You called me, sir." Anyone who sees his angry expression can flee to the hill. He appears to be planning to murder someone.
"Didn't I call you over the intercom?" He inquired; his face solemn.
"Yes, sir," I replied in hushed tones, not knowing what was going to happen next, causing me to gulp.
"How come you're asking me then?" he yelled. He's in a really bad mood.
"Sorry, sir," I quickly apologised; I don't want to lose this job.
"Today you will arrange this file in a date once sequence," he said sternly as he handed me the file, "you will make the important calls from the file that you are holding, and send emails to me about the meeting that will be held tomorrow."
Wow! He assigned me a large amount of work. And I'm certain the contact list is extensive.
"Finally, you are not going home until you finish all of this work." My pupils dilated. What does he think of himself? Is he under the impression that I am a working machine, capable of completing this much work in a single day?
"You are free to leave."
"Yes sir," I sighed as I walked out of the office to finish the mountains of work assigned to me by my evil boss, which I couldn't refuse or I'd lose my job.
(End of FLASHBACK)
I have to work until 9:00 p.m. that day. He's conceited, but I can't leave this job. This job pays significantly more than combining the three jobs. With this pay, I can easily cover all of my expenses. Today is Sunday, which means I have the day off from work and can relax. He even made me run a difficult errand. He gave me a file that I needed to submit to the right company at the right time or our company would suffer a significant loss. It took me 2 hours to find that specific company, but I submitted the file on time. Despite the fact that I completed my task, he was still agitated because I submitted the file 5 minutes late. I couldn't understand him, but he pays me well, so I decided to stick with this job.
My two best friends are coming over today to spend time with me. It has piqued my interest. I'm drinking my coffee in the kitchen right now, sitting on the kitchen counter, waiting for them. The doorbell rang, jolting me out of my reverie, and when I opened my apartment door, I heard an excited voice.
"How are you, girl?" Emily, my best friend, asked me this question while crushing me with her hug. Emily works at her mother's boutique as a fashion designer. Emily, I believe, will take over her mother's boutique in a few years.
"Hello, Emily. I am fine, but I am unable to breathe" After I told her, she let me go.
"Hey, Ami, you forgot to give me a hug, that's not fair," my other best friend Regan said, using a nickname they'd given me.
"No way, Regan. I haven't forgotten about you; in fact, you two are the most important people in my life". I told him honestly while hugging him, and it's true, they are my life. I couldn't be here without them; they came through when I needed them the most. Regan is the C.E.O. of his Drew.co, which he took over from his father last year in order to make it more successful. His parents are proud of him because of his success in such a short period of time.
"Ami, now is not the time to be emotional; let's talk about your boss," Emily teased. She went insane when I told her my boss's name was Alexander Anderson. She has a huge crush on my boss and has been teasing me since she found out about him.
"There isn't much to say about my boss, Emily, you're going insane."
"Come on, Ami, we know you like your boss; whenever we used to talk, you always brought him up in the middle of our conversation," she said, amusedly watching us.
"Come on guys, we're not here to talk about my boss, so let's go have some fun." I diverted the subject and sighed in relief when they agreed with me.
"You're right, let's go inside," Regan said. After breakfast, we went shopping at a nearby mall. Emily dragged Regan and me around the mall, dragging us into every store.
"Try this, Ami," Emily said as she showed me the dress, which was a cute floral dress that reached just above my knees.
I decided to buy the dress after trying it on. We decided to eat in the mall cafeteria after a few hours of shopping. Before taking our seats in the far corner, we ordered our lunch.
"So, Emily, what's going on in your life? Is there anyone special in your life?" Emily rolled her eyes at my question.
"Everything is fine, and I don't have anyone in my life. I will inform you first if there is anyone special", I chuckled and turned to face Regan.
"Don't look at me like that, there's no one special in my life," Regan said as he bit into his burger.
"I was going to ask how your work was going," I said as Emily burst out laughing. Regan shook his head and resumed eating his burger. We were strolling after paying for our lunch when my gaze was drawn to him. I'm sure he's my boss, but why was he here all by himself? Standing in front of a boutique, he appeared quite awkward. I was about to avert my gaze from him because I didn't want to appear creepy when someone emerged from the boutique and hugged him. He returned her hug with a chuckle. I can say she was stunning, and they appear to be a perfect match. I had no idea he was dating anyone. Knowing his rude personality, I always assumed he was single. I always thought he'd never find a girl who could put up with his mood swings, but I guess I was wrong when I saw them together looking lovey dovey. Any girl would want to date him because he is both handsome and wealthy. I quickly averted my gaze, not wanting to stare too long, and caught myself yet again, fooling myself. Later, after a brief stroll, we returned to my apartment.
"Let's watch a movie," Emily said to both of us as we sat down on the couch.
"Yeah!" Regan and I exclaimed with delight.
"Let's watch something on Netflix"
Emily suggested that we could watch something from Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, or Shadow Hunters.
Finally, we decided to watch Vampire Diaries, so I grabbed some snacks from the kitchen and began watching. During the film, Regan unintentionally spilled his cool drink on his clothes. We began to laugh at his plight. He took off his shirt. "Poor guy," I remarked, smirking.
When the doorbell rang, I decided to open it, but Regan beat me to it. I resumed my focus on the television when I heard a very familiar voice and looked towards the door. My jaw dropped as I noticed him standing in front of my apartment, my one and only.
"Boss"
