Chapter=3 (The first day at a new job.)

1471 Words
Today, I awakened before my alarm clock. I didn't get much sleep as I was worried about my first day at work. And I didn't have any nightmares last night, which was a relief. I resigned from all three of my jobs yesterday. Now I only have one job that I want; I don't know how long it will last, but I can be happy for as long as I want. I checked the time and it was 6:30 a.m. I need to get ready for work. I went through my morning routines. Today, I decided to wear a grey skirt with a grey blazer underneath its white top. I wore my hair in a bun and wore minimal makeup. I took hold of my handbag as I walked out of my room, wearing stilettos. I think I'll have to eat breakfast elsewhere because I don't want to be late for my first day. Because I can't afford a taxi every day, I decided to take the bus. After 30 minutes, I was in front of Anderson Co. I took a look around and noticed a cosy café. I smiled and proceeded to the café. As soon as I walked in, the aroma of the delicious coffee filled my nostrils, making me cheerful. I took a seat in the far corner, before a waiter came to take my order. "Miss, good morning. For the time being, I will be your waiter. Could you please give me your order?" I gave a nod. "I'd like an egg sandwich with cold coffee," I said as he nodded and took my orders before walking away to get my breakfast. I looked around and came to a halt when I noticed my boss drinking coffee and going over some documents. I scowl. Why is he here? Doesn't his company provide him with coffee, or perhaps he prefers the coffee served at this café? But whatever the case might be, I know one thing for certain. I don't want him to see me. I know for a fact that he is a ruthless boss, and I have to stay out of his way or he will fire me in seconds if he finds me doing anything wrong. I gasped when my eyes met with the brown ones. I couldn't take my gaze away from his intense eyes, which were probing my soul. His eyes were enticing, making me want to fly into them like a moth. He was staring at me while sipping his coffee, and his action left me speechless. But can I look away? I guess I can't because his eyes had me enslaved. When the waiter brought me breakfast, our staring contest was over. I was the first to turn away. "Thank you," I said to the waiter as I dug into my breakfast. When I raised my eyes to his direction, he was already gone, and I breathed a sigh of relief. After I'd finished my breakfast, I paid the bill before proceeding to the corporation, where I would begin my new life with a new career. I'm not sure if this is real or if I'm dreaming. And if I'm dreaming, I don't want to be jolted awake anytime soon. I walked into the corporation and into the elevator. I pressed the 30th floor button. I eventually made it to the floor. When I saw Julie, who was busy with her work, I decided to greet her and wish her a good morning. "Good morning, Julie. How are things going for you today?" I smiled as I greeted her. "Good morning, Amelia." "I'm fine, you're early for work today," she said with a smile. "Yes, actually, I don't want to be fired on my first day," I admitted sheepishly, recalling the previous day's incident. "What do you mean by that?" she inquired; her attention drawn away from her work. "Actually, Mr. Anderson insulted me yesterday during the interview, so when I was leaving his office, I murmured asshole and he heard me. He warned me next time if I do such things, he will fire me. That's why I decided to come early today," I explained. When she heard me, she burst out laughing. "You really called him an asshole," I just nodded. "That was hilarious," she said. "Yes, it was, but I thought he'd fire me," I replied with a pout. "But he didn't, so relax," she says, and I hope she's right. "Hmm, Julie, could you tell me what I should do now?" I asked her, by changing the subject. "Yes, you must first give him his coffee; come on, I'll show you where you can make his coffee." I simply followed her to the coffee machine, which was located on the same floor. Julie assisted me with making his coffee and instructed me to take his coffee to his office where he would give me my work. Before entering, I knocked on his office door and heard "come in." I walked into his office and set his coffee on his desk. 'Doesn't he drink too much coffee?' I wondered. "Good morning, Sir." I greeted him, and he said nothing. 'What a rude person he is?' I thought. "Ms. Williams, your work for P.A will be.... · You will arrive at the office before me, · make coffee for me in the morning, · You will attend all the meetings with me, · you will take important notes during meetings, · you will arrange the paper work whenever I tell you, · You will make reservations in restaurants for the meeting, · You will attend events with me as a P.A. that's all for now," he informed me, still not lifting his head from the papers. I just nodded. "I want words, Ms. William," he said. "Yes, sir," I said, rolling my eyes. "For now, your job is to arrange the files in the correct order that are already in your office, and make some important calls for the meeting from this file," he handed me the blue file, "and email me important points for the meeting that are available in this file. You can leave now." He loves to give orders, I assumed. "However, sir, where is my office?" "Ms Madison will show you around your office." "Thank you very much, sir." After leaving his office, I started looking for Julie. I immediately spotted her and approached her. "Can you show me around my office, Julie?" "Of course, follow me." I followed her, and we went to the next door to Mr. Anderson's office. We walked inside, and it was amazing with the grey-coloured walls. There was a large mahogany table in the middle of the office, not as large as Mr. Anderson's, but large enough for me, and it had a laptop and other important stuff that I would need for work. After wishing me luck on my first day on the job, she left for work, and I began mine. I was exhausted after only a few hours of work. When I looked at the clock, it was already 12: 30 p.m. Wow! Time flew by while I was working. "Come on, Amelia, we can go for lunch together," Julie said as she entered my office. "Yeah, let's go," I said as I stood up to follow her. We climbed to the 25th floor. There was a massive canteen that took up the entire floor. We sat at the available table on the right side before ordering our lunch, and we were talking about our day when someone approached us. "Hi, Julie, and you must be Mr. Anderson's new PA," he said, pointing to me who was standing near our table. "Yes," I replied. "My name is Noah Wilson," he said as he extended his hand for a handshake. "My name is Amelia William," I said as I took Noah's hand in mine for a handshake. Noah was a handsome man with blond hair and brown eyes. 'But not as handsome as Mr. Anderson,' my subconscious mind pointed out. Ignoring my subconscious, we began discussing our careers and how I was doing so far. Noah turned out to be a funny and nice guy. We returned to work after finishing our lunch before Mr. Anderson became enraged. "You can leave for today, Ms. William," Mr. Anderson said over the intercom. I looked at the clock; it was now 5:00 p.m. I gathered all of my belongings and went outside. I said my goodbyes to Julie and exited the building. I took a warm shower and changed into my nightgown after arriving at my apartment. I went to bed before finishing my meal. 'What a crazy day today was.' I thought, and soon fell asleep, not forgetting about those brown eyes staring at me in the café......
