Chapter=2 (Nightmare)

"Please don't hurt me," I begged her, tears streaming down my cheeks, "I'll do anything, but please don't hit me, I can't take it anymore." I begged her again, but she didn't hear me or didn't want to hear me, and she continued to hit me with her cane. I believe I will die, but death is not an option for me. "HOW COULD YOU INSULT ME IN FRONT OF MY FRIENDS, YOU STUPID BRAT? "HUH," she yelled at me, "please forgive me, I will not do it again."" "I will not let you go, I should teach you a lesson," she smirked at me. She continued to hit, yell, and kick me until I blacked out................ I awakened from my nightmare covered in sweat, just like a real one. I hadn't had a nightmare in 6 months, but it reappeared, but why now? Perhaps as a result of the incident last night. I couldn't get my mind off the filthy hands all over my body. I'm disgusted and humiliated. They were successful in bringing back memories that I had tried to bury for a long time, but it is all coming back in a rush now. When I started forgetting about those memories, I got the flashback of the memory yet again, and I don't think I'll ever be able to forget them after the last night incident. I can't stand these nightmares; they're as real as they get. I felt nauseous just thinking about my past. I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom before throwing up. My eyes are welling up with tears. I sat on my bed for a while, thinking about my life, and I'm afraid they'll come for me. I can't bear it again; I overcame my past in a year, but this nightmare resurrects it. After a few minutes, I looked at the time and realised it was 6:00 a.m.; I needed to get ready for my interview or else I would be late, and I didn't want to miss out on this opportunity because I couldn't forget about my pathetic past. I got out of bed and went into the bathroom. I stripped naked in front of my mirror and saw all the scars that show how weak I was in the past, how I couldn't do anything to stop the beatings, and how my past still haunts my life today. I walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body and another on my hair after taking a shower. I dried myself off before wearing a formal black dress that reached my knees. To look professional, I wore my hair in a bun and applied makeup before slipping on a pair of black slilettos. I smiled as I looked at myself in the mirror. Before leaving my room, I grab my handbag and my documents. I entered the kitchen and ate cereal. After that, I locked my apartment door and decided to take a taxi today to get to my interview on time. I got into the taxi after halting it; it would take 20 minutes to get to the Anderson.co Company by taxi. I arrived at the company after 25 minutes due to traffic. This is the largest company in all of New York City and working here is like a dream; I believe it has 60 floors. I entered the building and approached the receptionist. "Good morning," I said to her in order to get her attention. 'Nicole Emerson' was written on her name tag. "Good morning, may I assist you with anything?" she asked, faking a smile and not lifting her head from her computer. How rude ! "Hmm, my name is Amelia William, and I came here for an interview for the position of P.A." "The interview is on the 30th floor, you can go there," she said, motioning to the elevator. "Thank you," I said as I entered the elevator, which was packed with company employees. After waiting in the elevator, I arrived on the 30th floor, where I noticed another reception and walked there. "Good morning, my name is Amelia William, and I'm here for an interview for the position of P.A," I introduced myself. "Good morning, Amelia, my name is Julie Madison, and I was the one who called you for the interview; I will walk you there by myself." I noticed she was more friendly than the previous one. We entered the waiting room, where there were many beautiful women, dressed in a professional way. I heard rumours that most CEOs will hire beautiful women as their personal assistants. Now I am certain that he will not choose me, but rather those who appear to be beautiful and classy, which I am not. I shook my negative thoughts away. "You can wait here until you're called for the interview," she said, and I just nodded at her. "All the best for the interview," she said with a smile. "Thank you," I said, returning her gesture. I took the only empty seat on the corner, and some of the women were staring at me as if I had done something wrong to them, despite the fact that I didn't even know them. "How can she think she'll be chosen for the position of P.A?" one of the women asked the woman next to her, referring to me. "I know, just look at how she dressed up, she doesn't even know how to dress up for the interview," the second woman told the first. They both burst out laughing when they heard that. I rolled my eyes at their assumptions, wondering what was wrong with them. They should look at themselves first, because they appear to be sluts. I ignored them and focused my attention on my interview. I sat for an hour. Each interview took 15 minutes. Every 15 minutes, a woman would emerge from the office, either crying or angry. I'm not sure what's going on inside the office. I get nervous and scared whenever I see them crying or mad. I bit my lower lip and looked around; most of the candidates had been rejected, and I was certain he would not choose me. Just look at me; I have no experience in this field. I'm sure some of the candidates here had the ability and experience for this position, but I didn't. So how can I believe I'll get the job? I was about to stand when I decided to leave before embarrassing myself in front of those people who were already laughing at me. "Ms. Amelia William, it's now your turn for the interview," a woman in her thirties informed me. I swallow nervously and nod my head. I rose from my seat and proceeded to the CEO's office. To calm myself, I took a deep breath. I knocked on his door, then I heard a strong voice say, "come in," and I entered his office. I looked around the office and it was stunning, as if only the rich and powerful could afford it; it screamed complete perfection. There was a large glass window from which we could see a beautiful view of New York City, a large bookshelf that was filled with books, and a door on the left side of me that I believe led to a bathroom. I saw in front of me after seeing the view of the office. Holy crap! I noticed a very attractive man working behind the large glass mahogany desk. He has brown hair and light brown eyes, which I am not sure about, because he was looking down into the papers. "I don't have time to waste, Ms. William; finish this interview rather than standing there all your f*****g life," he almost yelled, his voice held anger. What a jerk! Now I'm not sure he's all that attractive. 'But he is the most handsome man you have ever seen in your life,' my subconscious mind said, making me huff. "Sorry, sir," I said, ignoring my subconscious. I went over to his desk and handed him my documents before taking the seat in front of him. He read the documents before looking up. "You took the degree in business, but you didn't get a job in the business field after you finished it. Why?" With a raised eyebrow, he questioned me. "Actually, sir, I didn't get a chance to work," I admitted. I reasoned that it would be better to be truthful than to lie. "Why should I hire you if you have no work experience?" "You can put your trust in me, sir; I am capable of working with enthusiasm. I can complete my work with honesty and dedication; I will not let you down." I gave him an honest response. The interview progressed, with him asking questions and me responding as best I could. The interview lasted about a half hour, and the longer it went on, the more nervous I became. "Congratulations, Ms. William, you've gotten this job, you can start tomorrow, and you should be here by 9:00 a.m.. I don't want you to be late, and don't wear this type of dress, it will ruin my reputation," he said sternly. "Thank you, sir, and I will remember what you just said," I said as I walked towards the door. He's one of the most obnoxious people I've ever met. "Asshole," I mumbled. "Ms. William, what did you just say?" I could hear his enraged voice. But, what should I tell him? I closed my eyes in embarrassment. "Hmm....Nothing" I lied to him, but I don't think he believed me. "You referred to me as an asshole, Ms. William." "No, sir," I lied again, drawing a glare from his eyes. "Yes, Ms. William, you called me an asshole. The next time you do, you will be fired. Is it clear what I meant?" "Yes, sir," I responded quickly, not wanting to lose my job so soon. "Good, you can leave now," he said as I walked out of his office. After I left the company, I sighed in relief and placed my hand on my chest, but soon a smile formed on my face as I remembered that I had gotten a job in the largest and most reputable company, and that from now on I wouldn't have to do three jobs in a day. With a smile on my face, I boarded a bus bound for my lonely apartment. Despite my lack of confidence in this job, I was able to secure a position in a highly prestigious company. The CEO is quite rude, but I believe that if I show him how capable I am for this position, he will appreciate it. 'Tomorrow will be a long day,' I thought with a grin on my face, long forgetting the incident of the night before.
