Blood on the Marble Floor
"Let me go, you piece of s**t!"
The woman's voice tore through the darkness.
It echoed against the walls of the luxurious office, sharp and desperate, carrying a fury that made the air itself seem to tremble.
Outside the room, the underground world continued as if nothing was wrong.
The crowd roared.
Money changed hands.
Bets were won and lost.
Somewhere below, two fighters were probably trying to beat each other unconscious for the entertainment of wealthy spectators.
But inside this room, a different battle was taking place.
A far more dangerous one.
The room was dimly lit.
Only a few golden lamps illuminated the expensive office, casting long shadows across polished marble floors and dark wooden furniture.
The decorations screamed wealth and power.
Rare artifacts lined the shelves.
Ancient weapons hung on the walls.
A massive desk stood in the center of the room like a throne.
Yet none of that mattered.
Not now.
The woman struggled violently.
Her breathing was ragged.
Her heart pounded against her ribs so hard it felt painful.
Every instinct screamed at her to get away.
To escape.
To survive.
Across from her, the man laughed.
The sound made her stomach turn.
"Don't you want this, huh?" he asked mockingly.
His voice was filled with arrogance.
The kind of arrogance that came from never being told no.
The kind that came from believing power could buy anything.
"Stay the hell away from me!"
She shoved against him.
The man staggered back a step.
A smile twisted across his face.
"Still pretending huh? you fuckin cu*t "
His eyes narrowed.
"After everything, you're seriously going to act like you don't want my attention?"
The woman's expression darkened.
The disgust on her face was impossible to hide.
"If you think that I would actually want anything to do with a cheap empty vessel like you then you're even more pathetic than I thought."
For a moment, silence filled the room.
Then the man's smile vanished.
His pride had been wounded.
And wounded pride was a dangerous thing.
"What did you just say?"
"You heard me."
The woman took another step backward.
Her eyes darted toward the door.
Too far.
The distance felt impossible.
The man noticed.
His grin returned.
"Looking for a way out?"
Her jaw tightened.
He laughed again.
"There is no way out baby, just come to daddy."
The words sent a chill down her spine.
She hated how confident he sounded.
Hated how certain he seemed.
But most of all, she hated that he thought she would simply give up.
The woman clenched her fists.
Then he moved.
Fast.
The woman barely had time to react.
He pounced on her and tried to pin her to the floor.
The room exploded into chaos.
Furniture scraped across the floor.
A chair toppled over.
A glass shattered somewhere nearby.
The struggle intensified.
Neither side willing to back down.
The woman fought with everything she had.
Years of hardship had taught her one lesson:
If nobody was coming to save her, she would save herself.
She kicked.
Pushed.
Twisted.
Anything to create distance.
Anything to break free.
The man cursed under his breath.
His confidence was beginning to crack.
The fight wasn't going the way he expected.
He had assumed she would panic.
Assumed she would surrender.
Instead, she fought like a cornered animal.
Every movement fueled by desperation.
By survival.
By rage.
The room echoed with heavy breathing.
The sound of footsteps.
The crash of objects being knocked aside.
The woman felt exhaustion beginning to creep into her muscles.
Her body hurt.
Her arms burned.
Her lungs felt like they were on fire.
But she refused to stop.
Refused to lose.
The man lunged again.
The woman dodged.
For a brief second, she thought she might finally have an opening.
Then everything happened at once.
A cry of pain.
A violent movement.
The man's expression twisted.
His body folded forward.
A strangled groan escaped him.
He stumbled backward, and fell on his knees clutching himself. She had hit him in the groin.
Shock filled his eyes.
"YOU CU*T" he yelled in pain.
The woman didn't hesitate.
She couldn't afford to.
Not after everything that had happened.
Not after what he had tried to do.
Her eyes scanned the room frantically.
Looking.
Searching.
Then she saw it.
A sculpture.
Heavy.
Solid.
Resting atop a display table.
Her heart skipped.
Without thinking, she grabbed it.
The weight nearly pulled her arm down.
The artifact was far heavier than it looked.
The man was still trying to recover.
Still cursing.
Still glaring at her.
His face twisted with anger.
"You—"
That was as far as he got.
The woman swung.
The sculpture connected with a sickening crack.
The man's head snapped sideways.
He staggered.
Blood immediately splashed.
The sight froze her for a fraction of a second.
The man touched the side of his head.
Then looked at his hand.
Blood.
His eyes widened.
"You crazy—"
Panic surged through her chest.
No.
No.
No.
Why wasn't he staying down?
Why was he still moving?
The woman backed away.
The sculpture trembled in her hands.
The man charged.
Everything slowed.
Her heartbeat thundered in her ears.
She couldn't think.
Couldn't breathe.
Couldn't hear anything except the rush of blood.
Then instinct took over.
She raised the sculpture again.
And swung.
Harder.
Much harder.
The impact echoed through the room.
The man's body froze.
His eyes widened.
Then all the strength seemed to leave him at once.
The sculpture slipped from her fingers.
Clattering onto the floor.
The man swayed.
Once.
Twice.
Then collapsed.
Silence.
A terrible silence.
The kind that made the room feel suddenly enormous.
The woman stood completely still.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly.
Her hands trembled.
She waited.
Expected him to get back up.
To curse.
To threaten her.
To move.
Anything.
But nothing happened.
The man remained motionless.
Blood slowly spread across the marble floor beneath him.
The sight made her stomach drop.
"No..."
The word escaped her lips before she realized she had spoken.
She took a cautious step forward.
Then another.
Her knees felt weak.
The room seemed to spin.
"No..."
Her voice cracked.
The man still didn't move.
Fear crawled through her veins.
Cold.
Relentless.
"What have I done?"
Her whisper barely reached her own ears.
The question hung in the air.
Unanswered.
"What have I done.
Tears threatened to form.
Her entire body shook.
This wasn't supposed to happen.
She had only wanted to escape.
Only wanted to protect herself.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Yet here she stood.
Staring at a motionless figure lying in a pool of blood.
The reality was impossible to ignore.
Panic consumed her.
She looked toward the door.
Then toward the windows.
Then back at the body.
Her breathing became faster.
More desperate.
Would someone come?
Had anyone heard?
Had anyone seen?
Questions flooded her mind.
None of them had answers.
The woman wiped trembling hands against her clothes.
Think.
She needed to think.
But her thoughts were a mess.
Every instinct screamed at her to run.
To leave.
To get as far away from this room as possible.
Her gaze landed on the body one last time.
Still unmoving.
Still silent.
The sight made her chest tighten.
Then she turned.
And hurried toward the door.
Every second felt like an eternity.
Every sound made her flinch.
The moment she slipped into the hallway, she glanced behind her.
The office remained silent.
The door slowly closing behind her.
Concealing the blood.
Concealing the body.
Concealing the secret that had just been born.
Her pulse thundered.
Her legs carried her forward.
One step.
Then another.
And another.
Away from the room.
Away from the nightmare.
Away from the mistake that would change everything.
Forever.
