3: Fire

.“Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey.” I felt my eyes flutter open and saw Adam sitting next to me with a tray of food. “Hey sugar, How are you feeling?” He dabbed a warm cloth on my forehead and took my temperature.

“Why are you taking my temperature?” I sat up and felt my wrist crumble under me. “Ouch.” I lifted my hand off of the bed and looked at it. “Why is it not healing.”

“What happened to it.” He gently took my hand into his and examined it carefully.

“My kidnapper. He was trying to r**e me and when I tried to push him off he snapped it in half.”

“I’m so sorry, Zara. Do you want me to get Max and the doctor-Nevermind…”

“What is it?” I looked at the thermometer he was holding and the temperature read ‘110’ “Holy s**t. Maybe you should go get them.” he nodded his head and started to walk out “Wait, how long was I asleep?”

“Just a normal amount of time. Except Max was really worried last night because when you fell asleep on his back you were having nightmares and felt very hot. At least now we know how b- s**t!”

Adam’S P.O.V

I was about to walk out of the room to get Max when Zara called out to me “Wait, how long was I asleep?”

“Just a normal amount of time. Except Max was really worried last night because when you fell asleep on his back you were having nightmares and felt very hot. At least now we know how b- s**t!” I rushed back to Zara who just went into a seizure from her fever “MAX TRENT GET YOUR ASSES IN HERE!”

Not even a second later Max and Trent busted into the room and rushed over to help me “Turn her on her side” Max and I followed Trent’s orders and turned Zara on her side. “Now place a pillow under her head and take her robe tie off. Now we let the seizure pass. That is all we could do other than be there for her when she recovers from it.”

“Something is wrong with her Max. She said her wrist wasn’t healing, don’t you guys heal way faster than humans?”

“Yeah we do. Do you know why she is seizing?” I nodded my head and showed him the thermometer. “110!? How does she have this bad of a fever.”

“I don’t know. I was just leaving to come and tell you but then she started seizing. What is happening to her?” Zara finally stopped seizing and was asleep. Max put the thermometer in her mouth again to check if her fever went down and luckily it did. 107 now.

“Come on Adam, let’s go get the doctor and leave Max to watch over her. Remember the rules if she starts seizing again.” I took Trent’s hand and followed him out of the room. After the door closed behind us, Trent pinned me against the wall “Stay away from Max.”

“You don’t own me. Why should I trust you?” His eyes turned black and I saw fangs emerge from his mouth. He growled and I felt a rumble in my chest. He brought my arm to his mouth and bit down. I tried to scream but he covered my face with his hand.

“Shhh. You will understand the feeling of a mate now that you will become one of us.” I stared at the bite on my arm that was starting to close up. “Lets go get the doctor.” He winked at me and led me down the stairs.

ZARA’S P.O.V

I opened my eyes to see that I was in a hospital. I turned my head and saw Max talking to a doctor. I couldn’t see the doctor’s face because his back was to me. I saw them talking but couldn’t hear anything. The doctor turned to set something on a table and I finally saw who it was.

I started panting and my neck started heating up. ‘Claire. We have to shift.’ Claire didn’t answer me but I felt her presence so it didn’t make sense. ‘CLAIRE’

‘Alright.’ I pulled the I.V out of my arm and the heart monitor of my chest. The ecg started flatlining which made both the guys turn and run into the room. I shifted fast and got into a position. I growled at Zak as he smirked at me.

Max looked between us and noticed Zak smiling at me. “I’m sorry but do you know each other? Shift back Zara.” I growled at the suggestion and hopped off the bed. I stalked closer to Zak and he backed up. “Zara! I said shift back.” I looked over to Max and nodded but before I did I backed up in front of him to protect him from Zak.

I shifted back and felt completely exposed to Zak. He tried to act innocent but he knew what he wanted. “What are you doing here?”

“I’m sorry Luna but I am here to make sure y-”

“Cut the bullshit, Zak! I know you are here to take me back to Kim. I’m not going back and you are not my mate so leave and I swear to god if you return I will end our whole race.” He laughed to himself and started to take off his uniform.

“See you are wrong, my beautiful Zara. We are mates. Don’t you remember when I marked you and claimed you as mine?” He showed me his neck that read ‘Mate of Zara Valentine’. I gasped and then looked at my neck. ‘Mate of Zak Manice’

“How? I didn’t even feel you mark me. Why would you mark me” I tackled Zak to the ground and shifted my hand. I started clawing Zak’s face as he just smiled at me.

“Zara he’s dead.” I distinctly heard Max say and I felt the connection between Zak and I break. I stopped and tried to stand but my legs felt weak and I fell to the ground. “Zara. Why didn’t you tell me he marked you.”

“I didn’t know. I didn-. I’m sorry Max. Ever since I was out of the dungeon all I have done was make mistakes.” I finally got the courage to stand up and I walked out of the room and through the hospital halls.

“Where are you going Zara?” Max ran up to me and spun me around to face him.

“Back to where I belong.” I started walking again and left the hospital leaving Max behind. “To the dungeon.” I whispered to myself.

‘Are you crazy!? You did anything you could to leave and now you’re going back.’

‘Yes. and you can’t stop me Claire. I belong there and I need to stay there to keep everyone safe.’ I blocked Claire out so she couldn’t stop me.

~TIME SKIP~

MAX’S P.O.V

“Do you know when Zara will leave the dungeon?” I shook my head at my father. “It’s been 4 weeks. It’s time to tell us why she went down there.”

I sighed and looked at everyone who was at the dinner table. My Father, my Mother, My Brother, Adam, My beta and his mate were there. Even my sister, Moon and her husband, Laurence who were visiting from their pack, were looking at me.

“Fine. Before Zara rejected me, she was almost kidnapped by her kind werecats. When I found her, she was unconscious for a day and when she woke up she told me that she got a mind link from Kim Valentine.”

“Kim’s alive?” Moon sounded horrified as she said this.

“Yes. She mind linked Zara and told her that she wanted her back before thursday or bad things would happen. So Zara being naive she thought that Kim was telling her the truth, so she rejected me and sacrificed everything to keep us from war. She was forced to mate with someone named Zak and he was abusive to her and forced a mark on her so she escaped.”

“Isn’t that extremely painful though? She should be dead.” I could tell they were all confused.

“Let me finish. Zara escaped the werecat’s kingdom and ran for a few days until she came across Adam and Adam saved her and let her into her work while Trent and I went to pick her up. She was tired and fell asleep on my back and then later she woke up with a fever of 110 then she started seizing so we took her to a hospital and Zak disguised himself as he doctor and we don’t know what he was planning because Zara killed him. She said that everything went horrible ever since she came out of the dungeon so she went back there and I didn’t stop her.”

I stood up and walked out of the pack house as my father and mother called after me. ‘Shall we go visit her?’

‘We can try, Carlos.’ Carlos is my wolf.

ZARA’S P.O.V

‘Claire, please talk to me. I’m getting pretty lonely down here without your company.’ I got no response. ‘Come one Claire. It’s been four weeks since you last talked to me, when will you stop acting like a child.’

‘You want to talk? Fine, lets talk. Can you please tell me why we are back in this place after we have finally been accepted into the pack, let alone by Alpha and Luna.’

‘Because we cause trouble for everyone. I don’t want to be a burden on their shoulders.’

‘What about what I want. Or what Max, Adam and Trent want. Have you even thought about them?’ I knew she was right but I couldn’t bring myself to leave my cell. ‘Are you that stupid? I’m serious, answer me, Zara. Are you seriously so dumb that you forgot what was around you.’

‘Don’t call me that. Out of everyone I thought you would understand. I change my mind, I rather be lonely.’

‘To late. Max is here.’ I sighed and turned my back to the cell door so Max didn’ see my face.

“What are you doing here, Max. You know that I came down here to be alone.” I heard the door open and felt arms wrap around my body.

“Come home, Zara. I want you to meet my sister and I want you to come sleep in the same bed as me and I want you to kiss me and hug me and I want to share showers with you and I want to marry you and I want you to carry my pups inside of you. I want you to be with me, Zara.”

“I’m not strong enough. I’m too weak.” I brought my knees to my chest and hugged them tightly as tears started going down my face. “Claire hates me. How am I supposed to keep everyone else happy when my own best friend hates me. And plus, Kim is probably on her way here to destroy everything.”

“Look at me. Kim isn’t coming and if she is we will do whatever is necessary to stop her. Please come home with me.” I shook my head.

“Make sure you close the door on your way out.” I wiggled out of his grasp and sat in another corner. He sighed and walked out, forgetting to shut the door.

‘Well there you go. He probably thinks you hate him. Now he’s going to find a different person to be his Luna all because you’re too selfish to go with him. He just confessed that he loved you and you still denied him. I wish I had a different human.’

‘Shut up.’

‘Your worthless. I can’t believe I was stuck with you.’

‘Shut. Up.’

’I should kill myself. At least I wouldn’t have you as a human.

‘I SAID SHUT UP!’ I slammed both of my fists onto the ground and saw the floor splitting into two with fire coming out. I stood up and looked around me. I saw fire. In the corner of my eye I saw a shattered mirror so I walked over to it and I picked it up.

My once bright red eyes were now gold in the middle and red circling it. When I looked inside my eyes there was fire dancing. “ZARA!” I heard Max coughing and changed my eyes back to their normal color. Then I went to Max “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine. What happened, why is there fire?” I acted innocent as Max helped me out. He pulled me to the exit and when we reached I looked back and saw warriors throwing water on the door way. “This is all my fault.” I whispered but thanks to wolf hearing, Max heard me clear as day.

“Hey, it’s not your fault. How could this possibly be your fault?”

‘I need to tell him, right? We should tell him.’

‘Obviously. He’s our mate.’ I nodded and grabbed Max’s hand. I pulled him to a table near by and sighed.

“When you left, Claire was not so happy about me staying down there. She told me I was worthless and that she would kill herself just to be away from me. I was angry. I told her to shut up but she didn’t listen. The next thing I know I slam my fists and fire erupts everywhere.” I looked up from my hands at Max and I could tell he was shocked. “Whats wrong with me?”

I started crying and Max came over and held me in his arms. We stayed like that for about 15 minutes but it felt like hours. My eyes felt heavy but before I fell asleep on him I said one final thing. “I missed you.”

“I missed you to.” He then picked me up and my eyes closed fully and I fell asleep as he picked me up and started carrying me. After a while, Max woke me up and I realized that we must’ve reached the pack house. “Wake up, baby. I want you to meet Moon.”

“Moon? Is that your sister?” He nodded his head and set me down. I held onto his hand and let him lead me inside.

“Zara! Oh my dear, It is so good to see you!” Luna Janet ran up to me and gave me a hug, next was Alpha Stanley, then Adam, and finally Trent. “Now tell us, why did you think it was a good idea to go down there when you could’ve been up here with us?”

“I missed you all to.” I then made my move to the couch where two unfamiliar people were siting. I waved at them and sat on the couch. “I just didn’t want to cause anymore trouble..but I guess we know how that turned out. Who are these people.”

“Okay, well that is my sister Luna Moon and her mate Alpha Laurence.” I shot up at the titles being called and bowed down.

“I am so sorry. Welcome to the pack Alpha and Luna.” I felt my face being lifted. I looked up and saw Moon smiling at me.

“Oh sweetie. You are so adorable. You are a Luna there is no need to bow nor say sorry to me and my mate. And plus we have been here for two weeks.” I blushed and buried my face inside my hands.

“Hey Sugar.” I looked back and saw Adam heading towards me. He held out his hand waiting for me to take it”Can you come with me for a minute.” I nodded and excepted his hand.

He dragged me to the kitchen and then spun around to face me. He stared at me for a few second than a grin stretched across his face and he brought me into a tight hug.

I coughed and wheezed as I couldn’t breathe “L-Let me B-Breathe” he set me down with a quick sorry and just giggled. “Why are you so happy?”

“Okay, for one I finally get to see my new best friend. Two, I’m a werewolf now. Thre-”

“Your a werewolf...now? Adammm.” I grabbed his hand and pulled him to Max’s room and shut the door behind him. “What do you mean your a werewolf. Weren’t you human the last time I saw you?”

“Well yeah. but Trent wanted me to have a full experience of the mating bond and he bit me. but the third reason on why I’m so happy is because he proposed to me 4 days ago!!!”

“PROPOSED!” I shook my head then looked down and noticed a wedding band on his finger. “You didn’t think about coming an telling me this 4 DAYS AGO!!??” I brought his hand up to get a better look at the ring. “It’s so beautiful.”

“Thanks Sugar. Come one we should head back.” I nodded my head and followed after him as he left the room. When we got back to the group everyone was talking about Max and I’s relationship and when we were gonna have pups.

“Well, whenever Zara is ready I will be as well.” I smiled at this and hugged him from behind. I kissed his cheek and snuggled my head into his neck.

“Thank you.” I kissed his cheek again and whispered something else in his ear which made his cheek turn dark red.

“Hey guys.” I turned around and saw Jay walking into the the pack house. I growled at her and backed away. “A-Are you still mad about what happened. I’m sorry Luna. It wasn’t my intention to hurt you I just wanted you to have fun.” she bowed at me and I felt Max’s hand on my elbow

I looked at him and he gave me a nod. “Jay. Stand up.” she did as I told and I just walked over to her and gave her a hug. “I’m not mad, you just...surprised me” I heard her chuckle and felt her grip tighten. I pulled back and gave her a smile “Now. I am craving some pizza, wanna order some.”

“Well, everyone already ate dinner but I had to cut it short to come see you so I’m down.” Max drooped his arm over my neck and pecked my forehead. He was already holding his phone with the dominoes number on the screen so I pressed call, grabbed Jay’s hand and ran back up to our room.

“GIRLS PIZZA IS HERE!” I looked at Jay and she looked back at me and we raced out of the bedroom.

When we reached the top of the stairs I figured that walking down would take to long and I remembered a story Trent told me the first time I was in the dungeons.

I grabbed Jay’s wrist and she looked at me. I smiled at her then sat at the top of the railing and started to slide down. Jay smirked and followed after me. Jay got to close to me and jumped off.

I didn’t realize we reached the bottom of the railing and when my butt hit the railing post I screamed as I didn’t know it was coming. Both Jay and I looked at each other and filled the room with laughter. Jay helped me off the railing and we laughed all the way to the kitchen.

“What are you to laughing about?” I looked at the voice and saw my adoptive father, Hunter.

“Hi Hunter. It’s just something that happened.” he gave us a suspicious look then raised his hands in defeat. He walked passed us and out of the house. “Why was Hunter here?”

“He was the one who dropped off the pizza for us.” I nodded and sat on Max’s lap. I felt something poke me and soon realized that it was his member. I blushed and looked at him. He was blushing to.

I turned back to my food and continued to eat my food with a smile on my face. After pizza, Max grabbed my wrist and spun me into him. “You wanna fulfill that statement now?”

Flashback

“Thank you.” I kissed his cheek again and then whispered in his ear “I’m ready to have kids.”

Flashback Over

"Only if you want." I giggled at him and kissed his lips. Once again I ran back upstairs with Max following. Without even closing the door, Max pushed me onto the bed and started kissing me all over. "Max...Close...the...door." I said between kisses.

He grunted and hung his head for a few seconds then he got up and locked the door. He turned around and ripped his shirt off. Then his pants and he jumped on top of me. "Your turn." He kissed me again and started to take off my close.

My shirt and shorts and both of our undergarments fell to the floor and I brought Max's body closer to mine and he continuously grinded in and on me. I moaned in pleasure and squeezed his arms.

We had s*x before but not like this. He was way more passionate and he loves me more this time, I could tell. He thrusted deeper and I moaned louder and he lowered his head next to mine but continued pushing inside me. I felt him swell up and release inside me. He groaned and tried rolling over but I kept him in place. 

I kissed his neck then his ear and made him face me. "Are you sure you want this?" He nodded his head. 

"I love you." He went to kiss me but I stopped him.

"I love you to, Max" He smiled at me and we both lent into a kiss. And we stayed that way for a few extra minutes before falling to sleep.

While Sleeping

"You must be wondering what happened to you today." A man said to me. "Well it was simple. Our father was a fire demon."

"Fire demon?" He nodded his head.

"A fire demon is a demon who watches over the fires in the world. They can prevent them and cause them. Your mother was a werecat and they mated. There are only two fire demons and werecat breeds in this world and we are those two breed, Zara."

"Who are you?"

"I'm Zane, Your twin brother. I will visit you soon and good luck." He winked and started to disappear.

"Good luck?" I started walking to him. "What do you mean?"

"Good luck on conceiving a baby, big sis." then he vanished in thin air.
