chapter 4 Claude, the Sorcerer, looked up from his book, his green eyes glinting in the candlelight. His white hair seemed to shimmer and glow, as if infused with an otherworldly energy. "Calm down, little Selly," he said, his voice soothing and gentle. "Tell me, what color is the dragon?" Selly, the young cat girl, took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. "It's... it's black, Master," she stammered. Claude's eyes narrowed, his gaze intensifying. "Black?" he repeated, his voice low and thoughtful. "The Dragon King?" He froze, his eyes fixed on some point beyond Selly's shoulder. Something was wrong. He could feel it. "Tell me, where is the dragon?" Claude asked, his voice urgent and commanding. Selly hesitated, then pointed out the window. "It's... it's outside, Master. In the valley. It's enormous, with scales as black as coal. And there's a girl on its back, with hair as white as snow." Claude's eyes snapped back into focus, his gaze locked on Selly's face. "I must go," he said, his voice firm and decisive. "Prepare my staff and my cloak. We will go to meet the Dragon King." Selly nodded, scurrying off to obey Claude's orders. As she left, Claude's eyes seemed to gleam with a fierce inner light, as if he were preparing himself for a great and perilous challenge. Here is the rewritten text: Claude walked towards the dragon, his staff in hand, his eyes fixed on the magnificent creature. As he approached, he felt a sudden surge of pain, his ears ringing as if struck by a loud bell. Selly screamed, "Master, what's wrong?" but Claude couldn't respond. He stumbled, his vision blurring, as the dragon's voice echoed in his mind. "Claude, dear sorcerer, I need your aid. Your niece, Victoria, her life is in danger. Please, help." The dragon's voice was like thunder, shaking Claude's very foundations. Claude struggled to regain his footing, his eyes scanning the dragon's massive form. He saw Victoria, the young girl with white hair, slumped over the dragon's neck, her body limp and lifeless. With a surge of adrenaline, Claude pushed aside his pain and focused on the task at hand. He raised his staff, channeling his magic towards Victoria. "What's happening to her?" Claude demanded, his voice firm and commanding. "What's causing her life force to fade?" The dragon's voice responded, "Her powers are overwhelming her. She's losing control, and her life force is being drained. I need your help to stabilize her magic and save her life." Claude's eyes locked onto Victoria's form, his mind racing with the challenge ahead. He knew that he had to act fast, to harness his magic and save his niece's life. As Claude cast his magic spell, the air around Victoria began to shimmer and glow. The dragon's massive form seemed to fade into the background, and Claude felt himself being pulled into Victoria's past. He saw his sister, Victoria's mother, lying in a bed, her body weak and frail. She was suffering from a magical disease, one that had no cure. Claude's heart ached as he watched his sister's struggles, her pain and suffering etched on her face. His sister's eyes, once bright and full of life, had sunken deep into her skull, surrounded by dark circles. Her skin was pale and clammy, and her hair had lost its luster. Claude could see the toll the disease was taking on her body, and it filled him with a deep sense of sorrow. As the vision shifted, Claude saw a young Victoria, no more than five years old, crying and alone. The maid, who was supposed to care for her, was instead feeding her dog food, treating her like an animal. Claude's anger and outrage grew as he watched this abuse continue for ten long years. The maid's face was twisted in a cruel scowl, and she seemed to take pleasure in Victoria's suffering. Claude could see the fear and uncertainty in Victoria's eyes, and it broke his heart. He wanted to reach out and comfort her, to tell her that everything would be okay. But the vision continued, and Claude saw how Victoria's father ignored her, how her brother blamed her for their mother's death. He saw how Victoria tried to reach out to them, to get their love and attention, but was constantly rejected. Her father's face was cold and unyielding, his eyes filled with a deep-seated hatred. Her brother's face was twisted in a scowl, his eyes blazing with anger and resentment. Claude could see the pain and hurt in Victoria's eyes, and it filled him with a deep sense of sorrow. The vision shifted again, and Claude saw the day that Victoria's brother and father hit her. He saw the look of despair and hopelessness on her face, the feeling of giving up that seemed to consume her. Victoria's eyes were empty and lifeless, her face pale and clammy. She seemed to have given up all hope, and it broke Claude's heart. He wanted to reach out and comfort her, to tell her that everything would be okay. But as he watched, Claude realized that Victoria's past was not just a series of tragic events. It was a testament to her strength and resilience, her ability to survive in the face of overwhelming adversity. And with that realization, Claude knew that he had to give Victoria a reason to live. He had to show her that there was still hope and love in the world, that she was not alone and unloved. With a newfound sense of determination, Claude reached out with his magic, pouring all of his love and energy into Victoria. He spoke in a soft, gentle voice, "Victoria, my dear niece, I am here for you. I will help you, I will support you, and I will love you. You are not alone, and you are not unloved." As Claude spoke, his magic washed over Victoria, filling her with a sense of peace and comfort. Her eyes, once empty and lifeless, began to sparkle with hope, and her face, once pale and clammy, began to glow with a warm and gentle light.
