Episode 2 – Quiet Isn’t Empty.

The scream was faint and short, sharp enough to jolt Mia upright in bed. Her heart pounded as she rushed to the bathroom, then to her drawers, her wardrobe—every corner of her room. Nothing was out of place. No movement. No sound. Just silence, thick and unsettling. She grabbed her backpack and hurried out, refusing to let the fear follow her. “I’m telling you, there’s no such thing as ghosts,” Felicia said later at school, crossing her arms. “You’d understand if you were there,” Mia replied. “It felt real.” Felicia sighed. “Girl, I think you’re just freaking yourself out.” “What? No, I’m serious!” Felicia laughed. “Relax.” Mia laughed too, forcing the sound out just as the bell rang for class. That afternoon, she dropped her bag by the door and hugged her mother. “Good afternoon, Mom.” “How was school today?” “As always.” Her mom studied her for a moment. “Have you even tried making new friends?” “Felicia is enough for me,” Mia said quietly. “She understands me. I don’t need anyone else causing problems.” Her mom nodded. “If you’re sure. Go shower—lunch will be ready soon.” Evening crept in slowly. Mia lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, waiting. Part of her expected the scream to return, or the strange feeling from the morning. But nothing happened. The evening was quiet though. Eerily quiet.
