My mum was banging on the door, commanding me to open the door. I groaned with pain,
"Mom, I am tired. I want to sleep..."
"oh no, you don't have to tell me WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?"
I put a pillow over my head, "God, you are a FRICKIN' DRAMA QUEEN. I WILL TELL YOU BUT I WANT SLEEP...."
"you do not raise your voice, YOUNG LADY."
” fine, we got locked in the school and had to jump from the roof to get out. “
She screamed, “WHAT? YOU JUMPED OUT OF A ROOF?”
I replied with a calm tone, “Calm down, gosh, I have done it before.”
She screeched, “WHAT?”
I thought to myself I shouldn’t have said that.
I replied with a tired tone, “Please Mum, I am so tired. We will talk later.”
You see a day with Aria is never the same, it is always fun and exciting. You just started to read this story and you encountered a loving friend group, didn’t you? But you see it was not always like this.
Flashback
Damn, I had no idea she was the principal's daughter! That explains why she acted like she had so much power, she thought to herself.
Her mom gave her a disapproving look and asked, "Why did you do that?"
She always despised seeing that disappointed expression on her mother's face; it felt like a sharp stab in her heart that was unbearable. She gazed at the ground and whispered, "You wouldn't get it."
"Then explain it to me, please."
Aria looked at her mother’s eyes and saw her pain, she couldn’t bear the fact that she was the cause.
She replied in a low tone, “She insulted me.”
“What did she tell?” asked her mother while holding her face up with her face gently stroking her cheeks
Aria wanted to tell the truth but she couldn’t, “just told me that I was a w***e. That’s it.”
Her mother removed her hands and hugged her.
“Honey, that b***h is stupid.” Said Mom whilst hugging her.
“Mom, language.”
They broke away from the hug and broke out into laughter.
“Language? Seriously? You?” said her mom whilst wiping tears.
She tried to answer but she couldn’t because she couldn’t control her laughter.
Mom replied, “Anyway I hate this place, so no worries.”
She tried to fake a smile but failed desperately.
Mum said, “It’s okay and let’s get the hell out of this place.”
This is the 3rd time she was expelled from a high school. You might think that she is a really bad person but the truth is that she is the sweetest person when you truly attempt to get to know her without any ulterior motive but in this generation, it is quite a rarity.
.
Do you want to know why did she punch that girl?
The reason for being expelled from almost every school is that she always punches somebody “important” but this time around she punches the principal’s daughter because she spreads rumors about her.
The rumor was that she was a lesbian, Aria didn’t give a piece of s**t to what they all said. The next was that she was transgender. The dirty looks you get from people when they think that you are queer are degrading. I mean come on, it’s 2021.
The truth is Aria did at times struggle with her sexuality but she had truly mastered the art of not giving a f**k to what other people say so she didn’t care what those close-minded people had to say.
The next piece of gossip was the one that ignited a furious rage within Aria. It was said that her mother worked as a prostitute and that she herself was born out of wedlock. Aria had always viewed her father as nothing more than a sperm donor, so she was not bothered by that aspect. However, the insinuation that her beloved mother was involved in such activities filled her with anger.
The instant she heard the rumor she walked up to Madeliene and said, “Stop f*****g lying.”
She turned to face Aria with a face full of fake innocence and told in a wavering voice, “I don’t know what you are talking about but please don’t hurt me. “
She couldn’t believe it. She is acting all like a f*****g Queen Bee b***h and now taking the stance of a victim how pathetic.
For a moment, I thought why do these people always select specific targets to torment every day, don’t they have anything else to do in life?
I came back to myself when I heard the bell go off. Finally, the weekend. This is why I love Friday. You don’t have to see people you despise for a whole of 2 days.
But there is something about the weekend, they just come and go in a split second and the weekdays go on like forever.
Monday came, god, I hated Mondays this is why I and Garfield related; we both hated Mondays and loved lasagna.
She was so well wrapped in her thoughts that she didn’t even notice the weird behavior of the other students. She spent the dreadful day in her world until she heard this…
“Aria Watson, please report to the principal’s office.”
I came back to Earth and looked around for a second because I was so confused as to why I was asked to come to the principal’s office. I got up from my seat and left the classroom full of whispers. I was sitting on the chair when I saw the secretary staring at me. I turned to look towards her, and at that moment she turned away with a look of disgust. I was curious. Just as I was about to ask about it, the principal opened the door and said,
“Aria, come on in.”
I stood up from my seat feeling the immense stare on me and walked into the principal’s office.
They were in the office. The silence was up in the air, the principal tried to say something but he refrained from it.
“Sir, why was I called here, did I do something wrong?”
“no, but your mother has.”
“what? why?”
The principal almost mumbled to himself about the fact he was regretting the decision he made about accepting her to the school and helping out Scott.
She asked in a low tone, “Sir, what’s wrong?”
The principal replied, “I don’t know how to say it but I got numerous complaints about you.”
She was immediately curious, “Sir, may I know that they were?”
(I know you are surprised but hey she is good when it comes to speaking formally.)
The principal took a deep breath, “we know the truth.”
Aria was completely baffled,” what truth?”
“you are going to act like you don’t know. Fine. We know that your mother has AIDS.”
She was shocked and it took her a while to formulate a sentence. When was able to formulate a sentence she said, “That is completely false, sir.”
The principal replied in a rather annoyed tone, “Stop lying, Miss Watson. You are suspended until further notice.”
She rose from her seat and said in an authoritative tone, “THAT IS A LIE.”
The principal matching her demeanor rose, "You better behave young lady.”
She stormed out of the office not paying attention to a word he was saying. She went and looked into the classes to find Madeliene.
She saw her in the back row of a class flirting with some guy. Not paying attention to the teacher I walked toward her and told her,
“I told you to stop lying.”
She replied with a fake innocent smile, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Aria boiling with anger not paying attention to the teacher who was standing right behind her yelling, slammed her hands on the table which created a loud noise and quieted everyone.
She raised her voice and told once again, “STOP f*****g LYING”
Madeleine quickly sheltered herself behind the guy she was flirting with and said with a wavering voice,
“Please don’t hurt me.”
She smiled, “Stop taking the victim stance, honey it doesn’t suit you.”
To which she replied with a cocky grin, “I didn’t lie, so.”
At that moment all Aria saw was red. She wanted to make her pay for her disparaging action. She pushed the guy aside and started to pound on her. She continued and didn’t stop even when people tried to remove her from Madeliene. She pushed them all away and went on the attack. It was stopped when at least 5 jocks were holding her preventing her to move.
She pushed them all aside and said,
“you deserved it, bitch.”
And left the school.
Later on, she gets to know that Madeliene is the principal’s daughter. Damn, me whooping her ass is a way of payback. That was awesome.
I also hated this close-minded town, so f**k them, I am outta here.
On to the next school that would probably expel me. I have no idea why they take me in; even I am surprised. I always asked my mom but she never gave a proper answer so I didn’t want to press anything.
The dark times ahead
She locked her door and lay on her bed motionless, which made her feel all alone. She was depressed, broken, and helpless.
She almost had no sleep. The dream/ nightmare that she saw previously played like a highlight reel each time she closed her eyes but every time the final moment differed. Once she was choked to death by her mom's disembodied body, once she held her mum in her hands, and in the final moment, she would say that she is the one to blame, she was hit by a truck and she was once burned alive with her regret and guilt. It differed from time to time.
"I'm the problem." was her thought.
