I was gently playing with Maximo’s fingers as I sat beside his bed. It had been about more than two hours since I went to visit him, the longest I’ve stayed with him without bawling my eyes out the whole time since he was put here. It was one of the private rooms in the hospital and right next to it was the Alpha’s room.
Whenever I would visit, I would find myself unable to fully look at him for a long time. It was not that I didn’t want to. It was that I couldn’t bring myself to. To see him so frail, so weak, and the man I knew that was once filled with light and radiance was almost… lifeless. I was broken and seeing him in that state crushed me even more.
