Jane POV The next time I opened my eyes, I was on a warm, soft bed and hooked to an IV. A giant bandage ran from my shoulder down my back. That part of my body was numb. My head felt ten times bigger. I struggled to take stock of the environment. A well-lit room with the daylight pouring in through half-open window drapes. The smell of dew drops and morning sunlight made me come fully awake. Jake? But he was not in here. His jacket laid beside me on the bed. I relaxed again, letting the peaceful silence wash over me.
