Jake POV
With those words, Jane's focus returned to me like I wanted.
"Could you please get that thing out of the room?" she said, gesturing at the piece of flesh in my hand.
"Of course." I moved it behind my back and out of her sight but didn't make any attempt to leave. I was worried about what Rudy would say next if I left them alone.
Her mixed feelings towards the male were something I hadn't missed. His declaration about her root piqued her curiosity a little bit. Maybe that was a good thing for us.
We could go on a trip to New Zealand together.
She relaxed further on the bed, pulling my jacket closer to herself. The simple act sent a tingling sensation through my chest down to my stomach.
"I'm sleepy," she murmured with her eyes on Rudy. A polite way of telling him to leave.
