Prologue
“Somebody help”
Quinn turned at the familiar voice, her eyes met figures of some girls but she couldn't quite say who they were because it was from a distance.
“Help” the voice came again. Part of Quinn yearned to go closer while the other kept repeating “Fools tread where angels fear to go,” She dared to go close anyway. As she got closer, the figures became clearer and she saw a girl obviously the one who has been screaming for help, being beaten mercilessly by some girls. “Amanda” she murmured as she recognized the victim immediately, “Gold” she murmured again as she also recognized one of the other girls.
“ What do I do," Quinn began pacing in confusion “ I can't just leave." She ran to get help but found none as the place was kind of deserted. Scared of approaching the scene alone, Quinn gave up and went home disturbed.

Quinn's house
As Quinn approached the gate, she knew she was in serious trouble because she seemed to have lost track of time and her mother does not tolerate home late comings. As expected, her mother was sitting in her favorite place, the garden, with a stern look that was enough to tell Quinn that she is angry.
Just as Quinn was about to say her greetings, her mother interrupted “ Where are you coming from because I doubt that you are coming back from school,” her mother said.
Quinn had a mind battle whether to tell her mother but decided not to say anything about the previous incident.
“I asked a question” her mother thundered and jolted Quinn out of her thought.
Just then Gloria, who is Quinn's elder sister, also came out of the house because of their mother's loud voice.
“I was occupied after school so I lost track of time,” Quinn spoke at last.
Gloria gave an eye roll and went inside.
“Well henceforth, you will be picked and dropped at school because I no longer trust your movements,” her mother said
“What of Jane? she did not drop by today,” she asked.
“She is sick,” Quinn replied and went inside the house.
