I stood at a corner of my father's room watching him helpless and pale in his sick bed. I couldn't bear the suffering this innocent man was going through. His skin was peeling off gradually, gosh he was really facing difficult times as someone who's about to hear a dark call. "Is that you son"? "Yes father," I answered Mr Alejandro. "I'm about crossing the bar son"... I moved close to my dad's bed "Hard work and dedication is all you need." My father talked in a very a low tone and tears started rolling down my cheeks as I saw my father weezing out. He closed his eyes and opened them, then closed them again. I heard no heartbeat when I put my head on his chest to testify. I tried to shake my dad awake but to no avail. My dad died, never to return back home. "No, dad!" I screamed, "don't do this dad, no wake up!!!" I still didn't believe he was truly gone, so I raised his hand up just to see it fall limb beside him. Tears continued rolling down my cheeks as I wept uncontrollably. "What is happening Mr Alejandro, Is something wrong?" Samantha soliloquies as she hurried to feed Mr Alejandro upstairs. "Samantha my father is dead, he is gone!" I cried out loud. "God!" Samantha shouted and the plate of food fell from her hand. That was the only word that came out from her mouth. Her stomach swallowed the remaining words in her throat, and suddenly but unaware, she found herself active and participating in this unpalatable weeping. Funeral arrangements were made and Mr Alejandro was successfully put to rest. "Indeed there will be lonely days in the absence of my father, Samantha" Pablo said and sighed. "No son, you have me" Samantha replied Pablo. It was sunset getting to evening and all sympatizers departed to their various destinations including Samantha and his household. "Breakfast is ready... Pablo, Wadrigo where are you?" Samantha shouted, but no one responded to her call. "I think I have to go up there and wake them up myself". Samantha thought to herself, and climbed upstairs gaily to knock at Pablo's door. There was no response. Samantha knew he would have been sleeping. she looked unfazed as she saw Pablo's room messed up when she opened the door. She walked straight to his bed and tapped him immediately. "Wake up son , it's 9am, you need to prepare for the day, and discharge the assignments you have to do." Pablo woke up and stretches his body. "Good morning Samantha, I had a peaceful sleep" he said. "Good morning son... Mmm I'm glad we are alive, hurry up and freshen up... Come on, get going, get going."Samantha urged, and hit his shoulders repeatedly. "Okay Samantha, give me few minutes to tidy up this place. I'll be with you soon".Pablo pushes her slowly to the door and she left. Samantha moved to the next door to wake Wadrigo up. She opened Wadrigo's door and saw him lying there so tired and idle, covering himself with a huge blanket like a snail hiding in it's shell, wanting to do nothing. Wadrigo slightly opened an eye while Samantha was about tapping him awake. He was very tall and confidential, but also rude, and his neighbours suspected him to be very wicked within. His reactions to people sometimes could tell his true nature. Samantha looked very ready for her daily insults thrown to her anytime she comes to wake him up. Samantha knowing his attitude, she could have knocked at his door to wake him up and when he had chosen to sleep, she could have left him alone, but she had already entered his room. "What is this one doing in my room? You old rat, how did you get inside my room?" Wadrigo asked Samantha in anger. Unknowingly, he forgot to lock his door last night because he returned home so drunk and weak. It was Mr Alejandro's death that got him drunk, but that was his habit. "But it's already 9am son, breakfast is set". Samantha meekly said. " Go away old lady... why do you keep on distracting my sleep every morning? Leave here! go and don't break the door Samantha or whatever." Samantha wanted unity in the house. She was so confused and left Wadrigo's room. She had been waiting for ages for him to corperate with the household but he paid deaf ears to people's words. Samantha wanted to cry out loud, but she descended downstairs in dismay to take her coffee. Pablo ran down quickly to join her for breakfast .He saw her worried and kissed her on the cheek. He asked Samantha why she was not in the mood to talk and laugh with him as usual. There were so many thoughts on her mind. She wanted to find a way to make peace with Wadrigo and feel happy just as she was with Pablo. "I have not committed any sin against him, so why this hate? Is it because he sees me as a poor nanny?" Samantha said sobbing. "Don't worry Samantha, let him be. Mm I know he is going to change very soon. "It is his pride, gosh. Relax, and promise me you will not think about Wadrigo's actions towards you again. I love you." "I will be going to the cells today to see Tony" "Oh my poor boy", Samantha sighs. "Tell him that I love him. And that we are going to get him out from that place soon." "Ok mum, I won't take long. bye" Pablo said. While he stepped out of the house, he saw Diego coming from the far end of the ranch. Pablo waited and greeted him when Diego finally approached. He wanted to know the performances of the workers and how well they were looking after the ranch. "I know you are a very fit man". Pablo smiled and pat Diego on his shoulders. " I'm fine boss" Diego said. "It's Pablo....my name is Pablo" "Okay Pablo", Diego laughed and said. "Wish Tony good luck for me." "Make sure they feed the cattle and horses please, and take care of the ranch" Pablo shouted after Diego, whiles he was leaving. Pablo boarded a car to the cells because his car had not been fixed yet. He insisted the driver should keep the change when he wanted to give it to him. He moved few steps and reached the police office. " Good morning sir" Pablo greeted. "Good morning Pablo". " Please I'm here to see Tony Patrick Vellos". To Pablo the place looked quite but disturbing. He could see real suffering. Indeed, there was no sweetness there and he couldn't bear the fact that his only friend had been locked up and seized in this unfavourable environment. People were beaten and mercilessly jailed, with hard labour. Pablo took a seat quietly. He knew Tony to be a well built man, but now he looked so lean and ugly when he saw him coming. He could see he had no hand in the murder and theft in Mr Nudo's family. " This accussed coming is really innocent", Pablo giggled. "Heyy man" Pablo smiled and hugged Tony. "What's up man, I have missed our times. When are you getting me out of here Pablo? I'm innocent, I swear. Sometimes, it is better not to help people out of difficult situations. Hmm see what I have gotten myself into".He proclaimed. " I promise you my friend, that you will soon get out of here". Pablo said. "I'm I supposed to face the consequences of a crime I didn't commit. Hell! that sonofabitch who is supposed to be here is enjoying life somewhere and here I am suffering!. oh God of Heaven who did I offend". He sobbed. "Take it easy....calm down. I know you are facing hard times but I promise you, we are making proceedings to get you out of here. You have us Tony". Tony looked a little worried now. Pablo then told him about one Bervely Wood, a caretaker of the "blue casino" at Mexico. It had been a long time he fell for the sweet eyes of Bervely but he always saw her to be too busy anytime he visited that casino. Pablo sometimes went to the casino just to admire Bervely's beauty and smiles. But all this while Tony knew Bervely was also interested in Pablo but unfortunately for him, he could not help his friend win Bervely because he was immediately arrested when he discovered the hidden exciting secret Bervely had been keeping from everybody " She was truly calm and committed when she came to my service once.. .. I mean everybody will love her attitude. ..you two will make a perfect fit.... Like my beloved Lucia and i" Tony said and they all burst into laughter. Both looked so excited but it was time for Tony to get back to his cell "I have to give you enough money to take care of yourself..... " Here, take and protect your life from these boys...pointing a finger at a gang who stood at a corner to watch every visitor who gives money or anything out . You will be out of here soon, I promise...Pablo hugged him. Tony was a bit sad but he moved straight to his cells. Pablo watched him as he moved, he shook his head in sorrow and left. He went for his car as soon as he had a message from Louisa, a repairer who he assigned to fix his car. He rushed quickly to the park and saw Muntago busily working. Pablo saw his car was already fixed, he greeted Muntago and he was directed to go for his car. He drove home quickly to meet Samantha so he could tell her about his plans to marry Bervely. He went straight to Samantha's kingdom, the kitchen and saw her preparing a lunch dish as usual. Pablo got so amused that he could not describe Bervely so well to Samantha. He just begged Samantha to love her because she had the perfect character " But I hope Tony is okay son" she asked " Yh mum buh he looked worried. I was sad when I saw him growing leaner.... Gosh....hm. Everything will be fine. I know he will soon join us here" Pablo said. " Yes son that has always been my prayer request. I thank God that you never imitated your brother's steps. Wadrigo is so mean and a womanizer! Buh mmmm son, I know u even want to go see her now...Samantha started to tease his son because he was deeply in love. " Look Samantha l, I'm going to her house right now to propose to her. If everything works out, he smiled, you'll surely see her tomorrow. Diego shrugs his shoulders as Pablo clashed with him...he told Pablo to take care.. A very beautiful woman showed up smiling at Pablo immediately he rang the bell of Beverly's house.Pablo though was confused but he smiled back at her. "Come in son, you are very handsome. Mrs wood was Beverly's mum. She liked smiling and opening up to all sorts of people. She was also a definition of motherly love. Her attitude for the first time towards Pablo made him to miss her mum . " Sit down Pablo" Mrs Wood instructed him." " Thank you ma, but you already know my name. Do you know me ma?" " Yes Pablo I knew you to be a little boy. Your mum was my very close friend Errmmm yes Pablo, "Mrs Wood said. I believe you came here because of my daughter" "Do you see things in a special way ma? That's my reason for coming here"Pablo said..and They smiled at each other. "Bervely, Bervely...., Bervely, Mrs Wood called out her name. "I'm coming...., She responded. "You have a visitor... Come out.. Bervely was not that interested and started asking questions in her room. Mrs Wood shouted at her name once and she hurriedly ran to her in the living room. " Mmm I'm here mum,.....Pablo.."she smiled and waved a hand to him. " I will be in my room while you two talks here" Mrs Wood wanted to see everything that would go on between the two. She stood behind her door quietly to listen to their conversation. She was doubting Pablo could not tell her daughter about his feelings for her. She knew both of them loved each other and could tell that from their faces. Mrs Wood stared through her glass window to know what would definitely go on in the living room. Pablo did not know how to start but his nerves attacked him and he gathered the courage to sing his love song to Bervely. Bervely became so much interested that she fell for him so deeply.. She then told him once upon a time, Pablo was her dream man but that thoughts of hers vanished as soon as shehe realized Pablo was not a native of Mexico City. She thought if she had gotten herself into him, they could barely see each other and make love to each other. Infact, she never liked distance relationships. Bervely moved from her position in the room to where Pablo was sitting. She sat very close to Pablo so she could proclaim the love she had for him. Bervely looked straight into his eyes. She thought it was a mere kissing until her daughter tried to remove Pablo's shirts. Pablo was confused and stopped her immediately he heard foot steps.....they both laughed. He didn't wanna ruin in his first day of meeting his Noble in-law. " I want to take you to my mum Bervely. Lemme marry you, please"......Pablo emotionally said. "I will marry you king,....she smiled, I can't wait to be in your arms. I'm very ready to see your mum....she smiled again. "Okay then tomorrow my queen, Pablo said holding her hand. Mm, mm, Mrs Wood got to the living room smiling, pretending to have heard and seen nothing. "Mum, I want Bervely to meet my mum right away, maybe tomorrow." "I have agreed son, I'm her mother, I know for sure her dad won't even spit a word to the ground before accepting this relationship too." " Marriage mum, Bervely said and they all burst into laughter. " Yes, yes, yes, I'm marrying you my queen. He touched her nose with his finger. "Thank you ma, I truly appreciate your love and time and for giving me this beautiful flower to plant in my house to blossom with children, ya grandchildren, they laughed again. It's late mum, I have to get back home quickly. I'll come for you tomorrow my queen so you can meet my Samantha. I love you both ,he kissed Bervely on the lip and kissed Mrs Wood on her cheek." " I will miss you Pablo" " I will miss you much Bervely Bye....,Pablo said. He wanted to spend more time with her buh he had to leave. He saw Samantha already seated for breakfast and did not greet her but tried to insult her. He looked at her in the eyes with an angry face and started calling her names. "This is all you know, food! Wadrigo said....but Samantha neglected him so he could shamefully get to his room. His presence in the house never made Samantha comfortable. She pretended nothing had happened immediately She saw Pablo descending downstairs ready to join her.....she then put a smile on her face in order not to draw Pablo's mind to her facial expression before. Pablo looked very happy since he was pushing harder and making the proceedings to marry Bervely. He had already told Samantha he was going to bring Bervely home to see her today. Pablo took his seat.. "Hey mum, good morning..... Mum im very happy today. You gonna see the love of my life today." "I'm happy for you too son. You have to get ready now and go for her, she smiled. " I'm through with all that I'm doing, let me get going. He exited.
