CHAPTER EIGHT

ZEPHYR'S POV

I groaned when i felt the sun rays hiting me. I opened my eyes and saw Nyx peacefully sleeping while his arms are wrapped around my torso. I can't help but to smile upon seeing his angelic face.

"I could feel you staring at me." He mumbled.

"You really look so angelic the closer i look at you."

He scrunched up his nose and lightly slap my chest as he smiled at me. We stared at each other and he peck me at my lips.

"I really love mornings with you. I'm sorry if i overthink so much about you and Em." He said.

"It'sokay. I really understand you. What is love if there is no jealousy, yeah?" I said and chuckled a bit.

"Shut up. Let's get up, we have to prepare for work." He said and is about to get up when i gently pulled him back.

"I" Then kissed him on his forehead.

"Love" Another kiss on the tip of his nose.

"You." Then kissed him on his lips. He bit his lower lip and giggled.

"Why so sappy? Haha! Let's go." Then he got up.

"You go take a bath first, i'll prepare our breakfast." He said.

"What if we go to your favorite bakery? It's too early so we have enough time to grab breakfast there." His eyes shine when he heard my suggestion.

"Okay. Well, i'll prep your work outfit. You go take a bath first." I nodded then i grab the towel and went to the bathroom. After a few minutes, i went out and saw my already ironed shirt on the bed. One thing i really love about Nyx is the way he was so attentive in everything especially when it comes in taking good care of me.

"I'll pick you up later since we will use my car." I said.

"Sure. But message me if you can't make it on time so i can grab a cab. I know how busy you are right now."

I nodded and we went to the car. When we reach the cafe, Nyx immediately look for a table while i was left to order our food. I was in the middle of lining up when my phone rings. I check who the caller was and found it was Emery.

"Hello"

"Hi, Zeph."

"Why did you call? Is there any problem about work?" I asked.

"Nothing. I just want to ask if you would like some coffee? I was about to go to the usual coffee shop that we used to hangout. And i thought maybe you would like some." I took a deep breath when a memory comes in my mind.

There is this coffee shop that became our spot. Not just because the menu and drinks are all good but the place is also cozy and intimate. We used to spend our free time there. But ever since she left, i never stepped foot on that cafe again. Because it just only reminds me good memories with her which became a painful one when she left.

"Uh, you don't have to. I already had some coffee at home." I answered. It become temporary silent on the other line.

"hmmkay. I just remembered that you don't just drink coffee from other cafés because not all the drinks served are good."

"Things changed, Em."

"I know"

"If you don't have anything important to say, i'll hang up. See you at work."

"Okay. See you."

I ended the call. I don't know her motive on why she always brought back our past memories. It not that i don't remember, but i just remember it all too well as if everything just happened yesterday.

"What's your order sir?"

"2 croissants, 1 hot cappucino, 1 hot americano." The cashier immediately punch my order.

I was on my way back to the table when i saw Nyx talking to someone and he was just sitting on my chair.

"Oh there you are." Nyx said. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him on his cheek.

"Oh by the way, this is Anthony. A close friend of mine since high school." I smiled at him and offered my hand.

"Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Zeph. Nyx's boyfriend." He smiled and took my hand for a handshake.

"Anthony. Nyx's close friend." He said as he introduced himself.

"Well, i guess i already took enough of your time. Nice meeting you, Zeph. I have to go now, Nyx. See you again." He said as he stood up and smiled at Nyx then he walks away.

"I don't like him." I said. Nyx's brows furrowed and then he smirked.

"Oh please darling, it's too early to be jelly." He teased and then he giggles.

"Nah, there is something in his aura, you know." I said. He was about to answer when our food arrived.

"Stop being judgmental, darling. He is nice. You don't have to worry about him."

"Seems like he likes you" I said then pouts my lips. I saw him trying to supress his laugh.

"Pfft...how could you say so? If he likes me, he should've already pursued me before. We were close before, but eversince they left we already lost contact. We just saw each other the other day when we bumped into each other in this very cafe." He explained. I felt a sudden pang in my chest when i learned that they met before.

"I'm just jealous." I said. He cups my face using his right hand and stares at me directly.

"I'm already yours, darling. I assure you, you are the only one in my heart." Then he winks. I couldn't help but to grin giddily.

"Look who's more sappy now." Then he slap my shoulder.

"You know what, it's just hunger. Come on let's eat before we got late on our way to work." I chuckled then we proceed to enjoy our breakfast. When we finished, we proceed on our drive to his workplace. I am feeling a little giddy and relax during the drive because the weather is too nice. The blue skies, the sun that brightens up the day in the midst of chaotic sounds of cars, trains and sounds of people who is on their way to their work. And the top reason why i felt this way is because the person who completes my world is beside me, staring at the car window observing the environment.

"Want some music, darling?" He asked.

"Just moan. Your moan is better than any music." I teased. I saw him blushed and playfully hits me.

"You pervert!"

"Hahahaha! I'm just kidding. Go ahead, just play anything you want. Who am i to deprive you of anything." I said. He shook his head and proceeds to choose a song.

I thought I was better safe than starry-eyed

"Loml by Taylor Swift." I mumbled.

"Yeah. I guess it fits as your song along with Em." My brows furrowed.

"Not to mock you okay? But the song's meaning it fits your love story with Em. It'sa sad song, you know? It mourns about the relationship that ended that you once thought would last forever. And i said it fits your story with her because she was once the love of your life." He explained. I focused on driving while listening to the track.

"Can you change the track? It's nice but this isn't the time to be more melancholy." I said. He chuckled and then change the music. He plays the song 'Always be my baby' .

"That's more i like it." I said. We both smile as we listen to the song. We both sang when the chorus part plays.

When the song ends we just smiled at each other and continued singing until we reached his workplace.

"i'll see you later, darling. Have a great day at work." then he kissed me.

"You too. I love you." he smiled then he went out of the car. After dropping him off, i drove off immediately to my workplace. When i arrived, i immediately settled down on my desk when i saw Emery walking towards me.

"Good morning, Zeph." She greeted.

"Morning." I answered back.

"You didn't made it last night. We had some fun."

"You know i'm busy. By the way, can i ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Why did you ask Nyx's help to approach me?" She froze. But her gaze doesn't leave mine.

"So he told you, huh. Well it's Because i want to talk to you."

"I told you im not ready yet. Please don't bother him again." I pleaded.

"Why? Is he scared i might take you away from him?" She asked.

"Why? Are you planning to steal me?"

"What if i am?"

"Well, I would like to see you try. 'Cause i promise you, you wouldn't get me again."

I just rolled my eyes. I don't want to waste any time to her schemes so i just turned my attention to my work and ignores her presence.

"Challenge accepted." She said then walks away. I don't know what she's planning to do, but one thing i know is that my love for Nyx will never change.
