CHAPTER 19

Starry stood in his study, pacing the room slowly. The space was grand, just like every other corner of the mansion. The shelves lining the walls were filled with books he never had time to read, and the dark wood desk in the center was spotless, almost untouched. He walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, his hands tucked into his pockets. The view stretched endlessly. The massive garden, the neatly trimmed hedges, the small fountain at the center—all of it was his. Beyond the garden, there was even more land. It was vast, empty, and waiting for something. He stood there for a while, staring out. What could he add to the space? Something for Chloe. Something to keep her entertained every time she looked out of her window. Maybe a tennis court. Or a flower garden. No, maybe a maze.
