"I yield. Seraphina is yours tonight." Alpha Kael wrenched open the collar of his shirt, baring the hard cut of his chest, and threw himself back against the leather sofa like a spoiled king collapsing onto his throne. Across from him, the Lycan King Damien sat half-veiled by the firelight, the sharp planes of his face cut in two by the shadows of the hearth. His voice, when it came, was a low cello-rumble that vibrated through the air. "You can really part with her?" Alpha Kael let out a bastard of a laugh. "Truly a rare moment. My exalted brother,His Supreme Majesty the Lycan King,actually deigning to look twice at a woman." "Since you've taken a liking to my Luna, I'll be generous. Of course I'll let her go." Damien didn't answer. So Kael kept talking. "Although…" "She has been mine for a year, brother. You wouldn't mind that she's been broken in already, would you?" The Lycan King Damien rose abruptly to his feet. His shadow,vast, beast-like,fell across the entire room. He reached for the coat draped over the back of his chair without looking. "Spare me the chatter. I want her." Alpha Kael looked like he'd swallowed something the wrong way. But he recovered fast. That flippant smirk crept back to his mouth. "Well then, my noble brother. Enjoy yourself tonight." Damien adjusted his thin gold-rimmed glasses with one fingertip,an oddly civilized gesture for a man who otherwise looked like he could rip out a throat with his teeth. He gave a small nod. And then he strode out of the room.
