Chapter 32Shelby and Kaela stared at Georgia in silence. They never interrupted her once as she told them about her condition and the prognosis. When she finished, as usual, Kaela spoke first.
“So if your thread regrows, your memory will return?”
“That's right.”
“How much does it need to grow?” Kaela asked.
“It's minute, very tiny.”
Shelby looked at her with big sad eyes. “So we may never get you back? You promised me you'd never leave but you did.”
“Oh sweetheart, you've not lost me. I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere.”
“But it's not the same.”
