Chapter One - Murder In Manchester
Sylvia's pov 23rd, January 1800 Out of the many cases I have worked with a soloist well known as Lucy Gray...Murder in Manchester seems to be the most complex of them all. It begins thus 9:00 p.m. at Fountain Heights Lodge. "Sylvia we have yet another case to unravel pack your bags we head for Manchester early tomorrow." "What about?" "A murder in Manchester. A man in his middle age about 29.". "Middle age?" " Turns out his family members have a short lifespan and that doesn't exclude him." "By any chance do we know the identity of this gentleman we speak of?" "Damiel White House." "A unique name." "Couldn't have said more of myself. He was killed in his own house." " Doesn't that mean it might be one of the staff?" "Not so likely. They all have solid alibis." "Where on the cardinal points did this case spring up from?" "oh I'll tell you Miguel Carson and co . They gathered up all the info they could but still didn't close the toast." "May I see the file?" "Suit yourself." She pointed at the file on the top of the bedside table while she closed her portmanteau and kept it near the shoe rack . "Do you care for coffee?" She asked. "No thank you." I replied In a few minutes she had joined me on the bed with her cup of hot coffee in her hands. "Interesting case isn't it?" "You call the a house." "Oh . You mean the manor. It is a house." She shrugged. " Well. I thought so little of the house in question already." I frowned. "Don't think of anything concerning a crime unless you've arrived at the crime scene and you have your complete data . Keeps the food on the table." I nodded and dropped the document in the file and then closed the file. "Done already?" Her voice disrupted my thoughts. "The case is indeed interesting. Only a few are well aware Damiel is home for the season. " "What season?" She asked "Spring of course." I answered. "Right." She clicked her tongue. " Most of the people who know of Damiel's homecoming are important people." I reasoned. "Damiel is a renowned artist. His work 'Dawn Of Voyage' is one of my favourite paintings till date." She took a sip of her coffee. "It was painted a decade back." She spoke "He was only nineteen then ." I remarked. " True talent comes from within. He started quite the young age . We talked once or twice about the painting." "You readily accepted the case . Situations have been made clear." "It's unfortunate that the poor soul is gone ..." She sipped her coffee again. "I better get rest then . Goodnight Luce." "Night Sylvia." I tucked myself in the quilt and soon drifted off.
