Chapter 19 As soon as we arrived back on land, Sam climbed out, then turned and held out a hand to Dinah. She took it and let him help her up onto the dock. I climbed out next—I had no intention of remaining behind with Viejo. Dr. Avila wasn’t immediately behind me, so I glanced over my shoulder to see what was keeping him. He was exchanging stares with Viejo. They were filled with contempt on the part of the son and regret on the part of the father.
