The dining hall was on the ground floor of the same building that contained the sleeping quarters.
Leo and I entered it, with Dr. Avila wedged between us. That made it difficult to get through the door, and finally I went first, waiting for the other two to follow. Leo swallowed a smile, while Dr. Avila grinned in triumph. Was he protecting Leo’s virtue or mine?
“David!” Dinah and Sam waved us to join them at their table.
“Who’s the dream?” Leo murmured.
“Don’t you know?”
“If I did, I wouldn’t ask. I’d be sitting there beside her.”
Hmm. According to Dr. Avila, Leo had been at Pesadelo Bay for a few days, while Dinah had been here for the past six months. How was it they hadn’t met already?
