Week 1 Chapter 1
Setting: along the magical beach of Fairytale land.
Plot: Ursula is the sea witch. Ariel is the youngest mermaid princess. Eric is the charming prince. Ursula and Ariel had fallen in love with Eric. Ariel forces Ursula to give her a pair of legs so that she can go enrol in the same academy as Eric on land. Once Poseidon finds out about this, he orders Ursula to follow his daughter and watch after her.
Ursula and Ariel are half sisters. Ursula is born out of the affair of Amphitrite (Poseidon's wife). Upon finding out about the affair, he kills her in a fit of rage and was planning to kill Ursula too. Thankfully, nanny porpoise saved her and they had been living in hiding ever since.
Scene 1: around the outskirts of the mermaid kingdom.
Ursula is out hunting and foraging for food when Ariel comes across her. Ariel is curious about Ursula's octopus body that is different from her golden mermaid tail.
Ariel: Why do you look like that?
Ursula: Rude. My dad has eight legs, so my mom gave birth to an octopus.
Ariel: Was your mom an octopus too?
Ursula: I don't know. I heard she was a fish.
Ariel: You mean a mermaid?
Ursula's face grew dark: No. A fish.
Ariel: But that's impossible! How could a fish and an octopus give birth to a-
Ursula: Enough. Leave now or I'll call the sharks over.
Scene 2: the outskirts of the mermaid kingdom.
Ariel meets Ursula again. She convinces Ursula to show her objects that she gathered from the land people. Ursula unwillingly tells her about how and where to get the treasures from.
Scene 3: in the royal mermaid palace
Ariel asks her father to capsize a ship so she can loot the treasures. Poseidon uncharacteristically agrees to her request, which shocks his older daughters.
Scene 4: at sea
Eric's ship is stuck because the sailors cannot pull up their anchor. Ursula is trying to dislodge their anchor from the c***k of the rock that it is stuck in, when suddenly the tides pick up and the waves grow bigger. One after another, the tall columns of water slam into the ship and soon enough, it tips over and starts to sink to the seafloor. Some men are able to get on lifeboats while some manage to hold onto wooden debris from the ship, but they are at the mercy of the raging waters. Angry waves swallow the desperate men as the tides pull them down along with the treasures of the ship. Ursula grabs as many people as she can and drags them to shore. While doing so, she tries to find him, but to no avail. When things calm down, she finally sees him, lying on the beach under her. She sings to him in her sickeningly sweet voice as she caresses his face. Ursula can only watch in shock from afar. She only retreated back into the ocean when one of the men started to gain consciousness.
Scene 5: Ursula's den
A few weeks after the capsizing, Ariels seeks out Ursula and finds her den. She knows that Ursula is hiding from authority and threatens to report her. To keep her quiet, Ursula agrees to turn her tail into legs so that she can go to the surface and find Eric. Before initiating the transformation, she warns Ariel that a merman who was turned before her had his voice taken from him, and Ariel agrees to continue despite knowing the risks. Just as Ursula had warned, Ariel is no longer able to speak. She also loses the ability to breathe under water. Ursula tells her pet shark to quickly take Ariel to the surface. Unbeknownst to her, royal guards were following Ariel, and when they see what has happened, they brought Ursula to Poseidon.
Scene 6: royal palace (mermaids)
Poseidon is enraged over what Ursula had done to his daughter. He raises his trident, about to shoot her down, when she proposes that she can go up to look after Ariel for the time being. He agrees and has her wear an anklet so that he knows where she is at all times. After he turns her into a human, she struggles to breathe and has to hold her breath and swim out to find her sharks so that they can take her up to the surface.
