We were as ready as we could be. Skye's family had gifted me with some of their power, their energy pulsating through me. In the limited time we had, they did all they could to protect me from the impending doom that awaited me with the dark dragon's death.
We hurriedly prepared ourselves. Time was of the essence, and we knew we had to reach Skye. Amaris would stay with Skye's brothers and cousins. Using her power, she would try to keep the barrier from allowing anyone in.
Skye's powers had now faded from me. Teleportation was no longer an option, so our only means of leaving was to take flight. Thankfully, among us, there were enough who possessed the ability to aid the rest of us in reaching the ground.
