Chapter 1
Neveah P.O.V “Are you ok love?” My fathers voice snaps me out of the dissociative daze I appear lost in. “Huh, sorry dad, what did you say?” Shaking my head. “Your toast, love it’s going cold. You feeling ok? Are you ill?” He asks holding his palm against my forehead. “I’m fine, just got a bit lost in my own head is all.” I giggle batting his hand away. “You would tell me wouldn’t you?, if there was something wrong. You can trust me sweet I promise I’m all ears.” His eyes full of worry. I gently hold his hand and smile. “Of course I would. Your the only person I have to talk to since mom died. “ The words slip out without me thinking. Tears brim his eyes. “I’m sorry dad, I didn’t think I’m so bloody stupid. “ I say looking back down to the table and toast in front of me. “Neveah!” He snaps. He lifts my chin to look me in the eyes. “Don’t you ever let me hear you speak about yourself like that again!” He smiles and cups my cheek in his hand. “You my dear, are the smartest, strongest most beautiful young women I know. And I refuse to sit here and listen to speak such utter rubbish of yourself. Talking about and remembering your mother dose not make you stupid. And anyone who says differently can take it up with Mr left and Mr right. “ he says lifting his fist in the air chuckling. If anyone was to stand to my defence, trust that it would be my father. I am the apple of his eye after all. He stands from the table and kisses the top of my head. “That’s my girl. “ he says. “Now quick run upstairs and brush your teeth before your late for school.” I laugh at him as I run up the stairs doing as I’m asked. I chuck my bag over my should and run back down the stairs. I roll my eyes as I hear my father filling a glass up with water. Here we go, time to shove more tablets down my throat. I whisper to myself. “Down the hatch.” My father says placing the water and tablets in my hands. I look down at the tablets. A strange wolf like growl leaves my lips. I look up at my father. “ you going to take them or not” he says smiling at me. Completely unaware of the sound I just made. I shake it off and swallow the tablets down with a gulp of the fresh water from the glass. A car horn beeps outside. “Ruth’s here.” My father tells me. “Great observation Mr obvious.” I say as I hug him goodbye. “Oi watch it cheeky!” He says whilst playful pushing me towards the door. “Have a great day sweetheart.” My fathers shouts as I close the door behind me. Yeah a great day of sitting alone and having rubbish chucked at me all day. I think to myself as I get in my best friend Ruth’s car. Ricks p.o.v I stand watching the girls pull away and head to school, from the kitchen window. I shake my head and sigh. “3 days” I say out loud. “ 3 days and my little girl turns 18. How dose it happen so quickly?” I ask myself. I rub my hands down my face. “Still wearing the flowery apron I see.” I look up and see the spurt of my beautiful wife walking towards me. “My love, your here.” I gasp. Tears building in my eyes. “Wow! You really are Mr obvious aren’t you.” She giggles cupping my cheek in her hand. “I’m always here watching. Your doing I great job raising our daughter by the way. She really is perfect.” She states walking around the table taking everything in. “You know your going to have to tell her the truth right?” “Truth about what?” I ask her. “You know damn well what Rick.” She snaps at me pointing at the box of tablets on the side. “Those tablets will have no affect once she is 18, and once her mate finds her, you will lose her if you are not honest with her. Better coming from you then someone else.” She says with her arms crossed on her chest. “NO!” I snap. “I won’t allow it. I will not lose to her to one of those animals. Not like I did you!” Tears falling from my eyes. “That animals as you call it resides inside your daughter remember!” She snaps back at me before disappearing in front of me. Yeah like I could ever forget. I say to myself sighing.
