Chapter 10

1636 Words
Ciara "You don't want to be late Ciara," dad said for the fifth time this morning but I've not moved an inch from my bed since I was kind of stressed from yesterday. I decided to heed to Shanya's advice about forgiving him but I can't trust him, since I'll be seeing him more often. I'll wait till he does something to piss me off again, then I'll give him a piece of what he deserves. I expected a call or a message from him last night but nothing came. Why should I expect a call? He was my boss's son and he was trying to be nice, after lying against me? My alarm went off about thirty minutes ago but I ignored it. "Alex is having breakfast already, he'll be leaving for school soon and you're still in bed," he said again but I didn't move. I was pleased with myself for locking the door from behind before sleeping last night. After waiting for a few minutes, I woke up fully, ready to start my day. Within twenty minutes, I was already at the kitchen having breakfast while Alex bragged about waking up before me. We got to school exactly about fifteen minutes after we left home. I found Shanya at the study hall as soon as I got there and since we had the same classes today we stayed together. Lunchtime seemed to come slower than usual since I wanted to talk about yesterday with her. I felt something fishy about the way she acted yesterday, firstly, she advised me to forgive him, then she accepted that he drove us only to leave me with him at the ice cream parlor and she came back immediately I stood up to look for her. Lastly, she pushed me back to his truck when I wanted to follow her back to her house. Finally the bell for lunch went off and Shanya and I went to the cafeteria together, she brought pizza for both of us. "Do you feel like you're not telling me something important?" I asked her after waiting very patiently. We just watched a guy spill ketchup on himself. I still don't understand the way some high schoolers act. Shanya said his name is Rad. "I don't think so," she replied. "Something about yesterday," I pushed. "I don't think so," she replied again to my disappointment. "Why do I feel like you're lieing?" I asked her before taking a bite from the slice of pizza that I was holding. "You're probably over thinking things," she replied and shrugged. "What do you think I'm over thinking?" I pushed back at her. "What you're thinking that I'm not telling you" I rolled my eyes at her response, I still felt like she's lieing. "You were acting wierd yesterday," I said finally. "How?" She queried "Like when you left your ice cream and said you were going to the bathroom and didn't come back early" "I told you that I ran into an old friend" "Liar," I snapped trying hard to look away from a girl two tables away who was stuffing her nostrils with chips. "Okayy, you got me. I tried some match making stuff," she replied and picked a slice. "I knew it," I said half shouting. "It wasn't that bad, I saw that you we're enjoying his company and you laughed a lot around him" "That was only because he laughs too much and I don't want to make him feel bad for not laughing too" "I'll just act like I beli_" "Hello," someone interrupted, startling Shanya and I. We looked at the person at the same time and my jaw almost dropped to the floor at the sight. I wanted to rub my eyes but I decided against it to avoid embarrassment. What was he doing here? "What are you doing here?" I asked, letting my thought out. "I'll be right back," Shanya said and stood up. Okay, now she was getting ice cream before I talked to her again. "What are you doing here?" I asked again while he occupied the seat Shanya just vacated. He shot an unreadable look at me and I raised a brow. He pulled his phone from his pocket and turned the screen so that it faced me, "what's this?" he asked with a frown. I took his phone from him to have a better view, my name played on his screen with my phone number underneath. "My phone number," I replied non-challantlly and dropped his phone on the table. "Really?" He asked not bothering to pick his phone. I pushed it closer to him. "Yeah" "Who then is the guy who picked the call last night?" He asked as he placed his elbows on the table. "Guy?" "Of course a guy," he said, "Sofia called last night but a guy picked the call" "Sofia?" I asked and he nodded. "You said a guy picked up" "Yeahhhh, you should have told me you were going to have some fun last night when you-" "What's his name?" I interrupted, I'm trying to control my temper. Why is he always saying nonesense? He's beginning to get on my nerves right now. I thought he was less of a jerk last night, that was why I gave him my number, now he's talking about some mysterious guy. "I didn't ask," he replied before he took his phone and pushed it back to me. "Does the number look familiar?" He asked, making me frown. I didn't bother looking at it before I replied "of course, it's mine. I should have know better than to give it to you," I said and stood up. I took me few minutes to realise that I was already seated on his laps. His hands wrapped firmly round my waist. It felt so strong and suitable to be leaned on. I took a deep breath to calm myself but all I could perceive was a smell like cinnamon and baby powder. My eyes shut close and my lips, pursed. After a few seconds of breathing in and out and consuming the unusual smell, I opened my eyes and it was captured by the his hazel eyes staring straight into them. I looked away immediately and I caught a good number of eyes on us, I think I saw someone taking photos, maybe it was my imagination. I tried to pull away but he tightened his grip around my waist and pulled me closer as if we were not close enough. "What are you do-ing?" I managed to ask. "Asking you a question," he replied with a smirk. "Let go of me," I said, my voice came out better this time. "After you answer me" "You're creating a scene," I said as I looked around again and noticed so many eyes on us. "So be it," he replied with a grin. I frowned "What is it?" "The number" "What's with you and my number?" I asked, forcing myself to forget about the position I find myself right now. "I don't know," he shrugged with his hands still firm around my waist. "I gave it to you" "Of course you did" I raised a brow, "What do you mean?" "You lied about it, didn't you?" "No I didn't" "Am I supposed to believe you?" "If you want to" He picked his phone from his table and showed me again, "look at each figures and tell me". I wanted to argue but I know that it wouldn't help. I did as he said and replied, "this is my number" "Now look at this," he said after he pulled it away for sometime before showed it to me. I examined the second number and noticed that it looked exactly like mine but with a difference in two figures. "This isn't mine," I replied and looked at his face. "That's the number, you gave to me" "I didn't" "I accept," he replied sarcastically. "It was a mistake, okay? It's either I called the wrong figures or you typed it wrongly" "Really?" "Yeah can you let go of me now?" I asked. I don't understand the look on his face but he let me go anyway. "You'll be coming over today. You're to come as soon as you leave school, Micheal asked me to tell you" "Okay," I replied and straightened up trying to ignore the eyes on us. It's my first time experiencing the crazy spotlight at the cafeteria and it's not enjoyable, not at all. I wonder how those who get the spotlight everyday enjoy it. I also noticed the girl who was stuffing her nostrils with chips staring, she was holding chips in her hands, probably to stuff them up again, how does she breath while doing that? "You know you're not supposed to be here," I said and he shrugged. "Who cares" "You should go, you'll get into more trouble." I was trying my best not to embarrass myself any further. He stood up, "I know, I'll be at the parking lot, I can drive you" "No, thanks," I replied before the bell went off. Did Shanya say that I laugh a lot around him? Well, I think she should take that back, here we are, my lips has not formed a simple smile. "C'mon just a drive" "No thanks, I'm cool" "Okay" "Okay," I replied and he smiled. "Please, let me drive you" What? Is he begging? "No, really" "Okay, then you'll talk to me when you come to my house" "Yes, just go" "Thanks," he replied and left immediately and I did the same.
