Ciara
"Hey! Did you find anything?" Dan asked me as we settled down for English class.
I let a small laugh and dropped by books on the table.
"Silly! Just photos of Sal and I in his car and a note that said I should expect something during lunch," I said and shrugged.
"What I saw was kind of different. But I think they're the same photos," he said still looking worried.
"Dan, I appreciate that you care about me but I promise you that I'm okay. Really," I assured him with a smile.
"Is that you smiling?" He asked as he widened his eyes and we both laughed. "So, now you laugh," he said again. "This is a great news! You barely smile"
"I'm changing, I guess"
"How did you become friends with Sal? I heard that he avoids people going to his house. He also rents a hotel to throw a party. You know how rich his mom is," he said. A red haired girl passed beside him and gave him a high-five, ignoring me completely. Don't worry about me, I'm used to it. It's not occasional.
"I don't know if I'm his friend," I said and bit my lower lip as I remember my first kiss. Do all girls get their first kiss with their boss's son who cares less about them? Well, I don't know if he cares lass about me. The way he looked at me yesterday was different.
"What do you mean?" He asked. He wanted to say something else but was interrupted when the teacher came in. He sat next to me and winked and I nodded.
"Should I be scared?" I whispered to him, trying my best not to get caught by the teacher.
"I don't know. But you know Maddie is always up to no good," He replied in a very low voice.
The class started but I didn't hear pay attention. I tried talking to Dan but the teacher seemed to have her eyes fixed on me.
I decided to pay attention in the class and aftrt what seemed like forever, it was time for lunch. Dan offered to walk me to the cafeteria but I turned him down.
"Hey hey!" Shanya called from behind as soon as I stepped into the cafeteria.
"Hey!" I replied and she hanged her hand on my shoulder as we walked over to a table and settled down.
"Did you bring anything for lunch?" She asked with a grin.
"No, what should we buy"
"I brought lunch!" she replied.
"Uh-oh. Did you cook it. I won't tolerate my lunch to be a disaster"
"You should taste it and guess who cooked it," she said and I frowned.
"So, how are you?" She asked as she pulled her lunch from her bag.
"I'm good!" A mouth watering smell hit my nose when she opened the her plate. "What's that?" I asked. It's been quite sometime since she brought lunch from home.
"Lasanga," she replied with a wicked grin.
"Oh my jezz, your dad's recipe?" I queried super excited.
"He made them!" She replied and I almost fell off my chair in excitement. Her dad made the best lasagna in the world but he barely cooked lately. I fell in love with lasagna because of him.
"Bring it right here, girl!!" I said and pulled the bowl of Lasanga from her.
"Er.. Ci"
"You don't want to share with me?" I asked feeling bad suddenly.
"What? No! Hell No! But can you..." she said but trailed off when Maddie's voice came to hearing.
What's she up to?
"Attention everyone!" She screamed again. She was standing on a table in the centre of the cafeteria.
This was deja vu.
This happened to Lizzy. She did the same s**t before Lizzy relocated.
She cleared her throat as one of her friends handed a speaker to her.
"I have a story to tell. Enjoy as you have you lunch people. Don't worry, I'll be very quick!" she said and looked in my direction grinning mischievouslly.
Shanya pulled my hand.
"Let's leave here," she mouthed.
"Why?"
"This is not going to end up well!" She screamed attracting a little attention.
"Don't be ridiculous. Sit," I commanded. She sat but she looked totally freaked out.
"As I said earlier it's a short story. I've learned that girls who snatch boyfriends are victims of circumstances. What I'm trying to say is that most of them inherit these traits. Do you want to know how I found out?" She asked while her friends cheered on.
Dumbasses.
"There's a woman who got married to a man after making him break up with his girl friend but guess what, she left him after twelve years of marriage for another married man which made his wife commit suicide. Isn't that crazy?" She asked, without waiting for responses she continued.
I couldn't help but think that this story was related to me. I pushed the thoughts behind my mind. Mom ditched dad for a divorced man. I think.
"Are you okay?" Shanya asked and I nodded and smiled. Neither of us has eaten the lasagna. She must noticed that I was lost.
"Are you sure that you want to stay here?" She asked again. "You know, I could walk up there and make her shut the f**k up," she offered.
"What? No! She telling a story and it obviously has nothing to do with me," I replied with a smiled. I looked at the bowl of untouched lasagna.
"Aren't you gonna eat?" I asked ignoring whatever it was that Maddie was saying.
"Later, you?"
"Same," I replied quietly.
Maddie's voice came back to my hearing.
"Sad enough, her daughter has those traits in her. I know most of you see me as mean but I have a heart, really. I feel for her daughter. It's becoming more frustrating for her because she's presently reaching out to something she can never have although she thinks she's gotten it," she said and laughed.
"The saddest part is that her daughter is right here with us and is proudly taking over her mother's legacy," she said and laughed again.
"Ciara?"
"I'm cool" I said again to Shanya.
"The poor man is left alone to cater for his son and his slutty daughter," she echoed and wiped her eyes with the back of her hands as if she was crying.
"When I say mother slut, you say daughter slut," she said and everyone laughed.
What's funny about that?
"Mother slut"
"Daughter slut," they replied.
"Mother slut"
"Daughter slut," they replied again. Some people were beating the table to create a beat.
"Urgh third graders," I groaned and Shanya laughed.
"Don't expect something better from Maddie," she replied and we both laughed.
"Give it up for Ciara Daniels, or should I say daughter slut," Shanya concluded. All eyes turned to look at me, suddenly felt dizzy but remained where I sat. Leaving here would only mean admitting that she was right. But was she really right? Did mom really make someone commit suicide? I'm I really like her?
The earth seemed to pause while my head spinned.
"The one's you won't expect right?" Someone said.
"I'm as shocked as you are Jane." Maddie replied.
I could only hear the voices but there seemed to be no movement.
"Ciara!!" I heard someone say but I could move or make out who it was.
"Her mom's mistake is none of your business Maddie!!" I heard the voice say. I really wanted to see who it was but I was unable to moved. My body felt heavy.
"Look who's talking, the adopted child!" Maddie replied the voice and I heard a echo of laughter.
"She went to his house after leaving school yesterday. They were in bed together. She left in the night and they ended up kissing at the front of her house when he dropped her off. Who knew Miss anti-social could go four hours?" Another voice said and murmur followed this time.
"Shut the f**k up all of you!!" A male voice said and a dead silence followed.
"Look who's here," someone said, breaking the silence.
"I'll love to be your apprentice, I'll love to learn how to make anti-social girls spend 4 hours in my bed," another voice said. And another roar if laughter followed.
"You're the man, Castillo!" some said.
"I said shut up all of you!!" the male voice said again and this time I didn't hear another word.
"Maddie and I are not a thing, who I kiss is none of y'all business. More importantly, who I drive to my house and the time they leave Is also clearly none of your business. If I hear another word about this, you'll have yourself to blame"
I felt warms hands rubbing my back and shoulders as the male voice spoke.
"Hey, are you okay?" I heard the male voice say. A hand touched my hand. The feeling was different from the one that was rubbing my shoulder. Suddenly, everything seemed to move again and my eyes held those hazel eyes.
What's happening.

Hi people!! Okay, I'm beginning to despise Maddie. But how did she get to know a story that Ciara had no idea about?
Is the story true?
