“I want to make things perfectly clear to you, there’s absolutely nothing you can say or offer to change my mind here. My word is law! I’m the alpha, I make the decisions… it’s MY PACK!” Alpha Samson stands his ground as I speak, not making a move or showing any emotion. He’s taking his stance as an alpha should, but he’s trying his luck and my patience. Ever since him and his daughter made themselves guests in my home I’ve been harassed and manipulated into dates with this man’s daughter. Who by the way is a complete mess and waste of time… my time! “Now alpha Oliver be reasonably here, my daughter is a perfect match for you, she’s graceful and proud! She’ll make you the perfect Luna and pop out so many heirs they’ll have to fight for a title. Meadow may not be your goddess given mate but she’s ready for a Luna position!” Samson doesn’t change his tune at all. Why can’t these alphas see that I don’t want a mate or a Luna for that matter, my pack is doing well without one and I’ll be damned if I ever find one! I exhale slowly and pray to the moon goddess for more patience. “ Samson I’m growing tired of this game, you aren’t going to change my mind.. not now or ever! Now please, would you and your daughter please leave my office before I have my beta escort you out of my home.” Alpha Samson straights his back and bows lightly in defeat. His daughter looks me up and down and smirks as if to say she’ll be back. I worked all night in hopes they would leave me be, I was in no mood to deal with them or anyone else for that matter. A knock on my door interrupted my train of thought. Titus my beta enters and approaches my desk slowly with 2 drinks in hand, this only means one thing… he wants to talk. “You want the good news or the bad news first Oli?” I pinch the bridge of my nose and take a drink from my cup. “I’d prefer no news but let’s start with the bad first.” Titus chuckles before he lightly tugs at his beard, he has one give and that’s the beard tug… I f*****g hate when he does it because it only means the news is f*****g bad. “The grand elders are growing impatient with you Oliver, they are threatening to strip you of your title if you can’t agree to marry someone.” I didn’t mean to but I laughed harder then I should have. “ they can f*****g try! I’ve been the alpha for 10 years… they can’t, no they have no authority whatsoever!” Anger and rage just oozed out of every possible pore I had. I shot up from my seat and smashed my desk with my fists breaking the damn thing in half, I can sense asmo getting antsy he’s ready to snap but I have to calm the hell down. “What do they want me to do? I haven’t met the right one… if they want me to mate I’d rather have the goddess herself chose for me.” Titus coughs and gains my attention again “that’s the good news, they took it upon themselves to invite every pack within reasonable distance to join us this year to celebrate the coming of the new moon.” My f*****g jaw hits the goddamn floor. These old men will stop at nothing to get their way. “When was this decision made? I didn’t sign off on this!” “Stop your huffing and puffing Oliver, I don’t see the problem in having some unmated females on pack land. If you haven’t noticed some of us actually want a mate.” Titus fixed himself in his seat and swallowed the rest of his drink. I swung my head back and cursed to myself. “Your right, im being stupid. Let’s get started on preparations.” With that titus bounced up and walked out of my office with a triumphant smile and stride. I’ve decided that I’ve had enough of everyone’s nonsense today so I gathered my desk and left it in a corner to be picked up tomorrow morning and I walked off to my bedroom ready to end my long day. I was going to have a hot shower watch some tv then fall asleep. I stopped midway opening my door to the smell of the only person who could make my skin crawl right now… meadow. This women infuriated me to my core. She doesn’t understand how much I hate her, yet she tries me at every opportunity. I’ll give her that she is determined but her energy is in the wrong alpha. Furious now I slam open the door and rush inside picking up this beast by her neck,not enough to hurt her but enough to put some fear in those eyes. She slowly swallows and clenches at my fingers. “I’m only going to ask this question once, what are you doing here?.” “Isn’t it obvious?” She asked with a sly and inquisitive voice “I’m helping you so you don’t have to go through with plans your elders have in motion. If you claim me they won’t have a need to throw this party together.” She stares at me with mischievous eyes and I can’t help but sigh at the fact that I still have this impending doom following me. I give her one final snarl and let her go. What the hell is wrong with me? I should have thrown her out but tonight, I have no more fight left. Meadow may not be my mate, but I need company tonight… my frustration won’t elevate itself. I’m going to regret this in the morning but I lead meadow into the shower and allow her to stay with me for the night. My wolf is going nuts right now but we both know that she will stop at nothing, so might as well give in.. just for a bit, just for a moment.
