Mia didn’t argue she knew this was her dad’s doing but she had no intention of meeting any friends. She was going out though, she needed some fresh air, unpacking was tiring! She grabbed her bag and keys and headed out. She had noticed a small café outside campus and decided to go there. This was Uni and she wanted to keep a low profile.
“Who’s that? She’s beautiful!”
“She must come from a rich family look at her clothes. All designer clothes costing no less than ten of thousands!”
“Is that the latest LV bag? I heard it’s not available in our country yet!”
The Café was packed with students and as soon as Mia stepped in murmuring among them started. Brows knitted and a lifted chin, she strutted in as arrogant as ever. The disdainful look on her face was her trademark. She found an empty table, wiped the chair and table surfaces and sat down before the waitress walked over.
“A latte please.” Mia said before the waitress could even speak.
“Ermm okay .. anything else Miss?” She asked and Mia simply waved her hand dismissing her then took out her phone and went through her social media.
“I hope you’re done unpacking all those boxes.” A familiar annoying voice disturbed her making Mia raise her eyes in irritation.
“And if I’m not? What are you going to do about it?” She shot back looking annoyed.
“Don’t play tough daddy is not here to help you ..” Cassy said raising her eyebrows provoking.
“Do you have a problem with my dad?” Mia quickly stood up glaring at the girl folding her arms on her chest.
“Hey hey! What’s going on here?” a guy standing too close to Mia and Cassy asked his striking grey eyes narrowed and his sharp brows furrowed deeply. Mia gasped internally for a second! The guys had dark sharp features that made him ridiculously hot! But wait! Isn’t he the nag-bag brother? Why didn’t she notice he this good looking? She quickly snapped out of it glaring at Cassy before replying.
“Your sister has a crush on my dad.” Mia sneered as she gave Cassy a disdainful look. She could feel the guys intense stare on her but she avoided looking at him.
“What the heck? Are you insane?” Cassy’s face flushed with anger and embarrassment as Mia got up and walked towards the counter, paid for her latte and left.
“Who the hell is that?” Jake Milton asked grabbing his sister’s arm who looked like she wanted to follow the girl.
“Metcalfe’s bitchy daughter. She’s my room mate.” She muttered under her breath yanking her arm away from Jake who looked a little lost.
“Thee Metcalfe?” He asked watching the girl leaving looking as stuck up as ever.
Mia got in her car drove off leaving other students in awe. The murmuring picked as soon as they realised she was AMELIA METCALFE! Mia’s mind was filled with what just happened to care about the students chatter.
She hadn’t really looked at Cassy’s brother earlier on but now that he had stood closer to her she couldn’t help but notice how good looking he was. Her heart was practically beating wildly in her chest when their eyes met and she wondered if he didn’t hear it. She couldn’t wait to leave that Café when she realised she might actually like someone. A guy! She drove around aimlessly trying to figure it out till Alex called her to inform her they were done.
“Wow the place looks alive. Thanks Alex.” Mia beamed with joy as she stepped into her dorm.
“No need to thank us Miss, it’s our job.” He said as they left.
Mia went to her room and found they had arranged everything nicely for her. The front door suddenly bust open and Cassy strutted in and she was amazed to see all the boxes were gone and the dorm looked amazing. She hated to admit it but sharing the dorm with the spoilt girl was going to have its perks. Big screen TV that covers half the wall and an all surrounding sound system. Her eyes were wondering around the unrecognizable room ..
“Cassy you’re … WOW!” Rosa exclaimed as she walked in their dorm admiring the décor. “What have you done with the place? It’s gorgeous.”
“Not my work.” Cassy replied in a lazy tone. “The rich kid did this.”
“What rich kid? Who are you sharing with?” Rosa peered around checking the place out. It looked nothing short of a small presidential suite! Rosa was squicking checking things out.
“Can you two keep it down? You ruined my FaceTime with my dad!” Mia walked in with an annoyed expression.
“Who’s she?” Rosa Montgomery asked looking at Cassy then Mia.
“Amelia freaking Metcalfe.” Cassy said rolling her eyes.
“Nice to meet you Amelia. I’m Rosa Montgomery.” She extended her hand but Mia rolled her eyes and walked back to her room. “Wow how rude.”
“She’s a B! Just give me a few minutes to change and we’ll head to the party.” Cassy said and disappeared in her room. It only then that it registered to Rosa who the other girl was but she had already gone into her room. She quickly followed Cassy to her room.
“Cassy .. that girl just now you said she’s..?” Rosa asked her ears twitching with curiosity.
“Yeah yeah she’s that Amelia Metcalfe !” Cassy rolled her eyes. “She’s a pain in the ass don’t even think about sucking up to her.”
“Let’s just invite her to the party. If we’re seen with her that could work in our favor. Metcalfe practically owns the entire school remember?” Rosa whispered after hearing footsteps outside the door. Cassy seemed to think about it for a second before replying.
“Fine. Maybe I’ll get a chance to play a prank on her later. Teach her a little lesson.” She smiled mischievously and walked out of her room.
“Amelia we’re-“ She stopped halfway with her sentence when she noticed Mia dressed to the nines. Damn this girl is really pretty! Cassy’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets. “Date?”
“I’m heading out to dinner with my dad. And close your mouth you’re freaking me out.” Mia said stifling her laughter seeing the other girl drooling over her.
“Oh.” Cassy sounded disappointed. “Enjoy.”
“Where are you going? Make sure you come back before 10 pm. I don’t like noise at night. I’m a light-sleeper.” Mia said glancing at Cassy as she took out her phone to check a message she just received.
Cassy looked at her with glaring eyes, smoke practically coming out of her ears. She couldn’t believe the nerve of this girl! Giving her a curfew! Who the hell does she think she is? Her mother?
However Cassy’s anger turned into confusion when she noticed the large tears streaming down Mia’s eyes quickly like pearls falling from a broken string.
“Hey are you okay?” She asked quickly.
“He’s not coming. My dad is ..” She chocked on her sobs making Cassy and Rosa to exchange glances. This damn spoilt brat! Who cries so easily??
“We were going to ask you to join us and since your dad bailed out why not come party with us. We won’t have many parties when classes start. Besides you can make new friends just like your dad want-“
“Don’t mention that jerk to me!” Mia snapped then grabbed her bag and stormed out then suddenly paused at the door. “Aren’t we leaving?”
Cassy and Rosa exchange glances shrugging and followed Mia who led them to her pink Porshe. Rosa sat at the back while Mia drove and Cassy sat on the passenger seat giving directions.
“Will you be okay if I leave you guys there? I must be in bed before 10 pm. I need at least 9 hours of sleep. My skin might break out tomorrow..” Mia said gently patting herself with one hand while the other was holding the steering wheel.
“Are you always this annoying?” Cassy cut her off feeling slightly annoyed.
“Well yes.” Mia replied casually not bothered at all by Cassy’s remark. “You better get used to it ‘cos you’re spending the entire year as my room mate.”
Rosa burst into fits of laughter at back. Mia is really thick skinned! Cassy was fuming next to her while Mia seemed unaffected. She started singing along to the tune playing on the radio. What a perfect duo! Rosa thought as she looked at the two of them in the front seat of the car.
“If I don’t kill you before the year is over then my name is not Cassandra Milton!” Cassy swore under her breath.
