Aiden sat at the head of a large conference table. Around him, the elders, including his parents, were arguing. The death of Damian had sent a shockwave through the pack that was so severe some wolves actually fell ill. It was rare for an Alpha to die while still the head of a pack. They usually died of old age and only after the mantle had been passed to another relative.
Aiden's parents were arguing that Aiden now had every right to be the new Alpha, but the other elders believed that as a traitor who had a hand in the previous Alpha's demise, Aiden should no longer qualify.
Aiden couldn't help but roll his eyes at this. His parents had made no effort to defend him when he was accused of being a traitor and thrown in prison, but now they were fighting for him tooth and claw
