Lila's POV I hardly noticed the iron cuffs, even though their weight seared on my wrists. Everything else was drowned out by the pounding of my pulse in my ears. I waited for the signal, my muscles clenched, ready to attack. Any time now. Long shadows swirled strangely over the icy floor of my jail cell as the candles flickered along the stone walls. I had pretended to think about Hayden's offer for hours, giving him the impression that I was faltering. However, I wasn't. I waited. Then it arrived. The stone walls of the stronghold trembled with a distant blast. Shouts came from the corridors, then scurrying feet and the metallic clang of drawn swords. My chest constricted. They were present. Kael and Kian had taken action. My cell door sprang open, and I made myself remain composed.
