Lila’s POV
When I felt the weight of powerful arms lifting me, the flames had just begun to go out. I knew it was Kian even though my body was weak and my eyesight was blurry. His voice sounded panicked, yet his hold was solid.
"Lila! Stay with me.
I opened my mouth to speak, but the force I had released made my throat feel raw. My brain swirled from tiredness, my skin burned, and my body hurt. A jumble of flaming trees and the noises of Hayden's soldiers encroaching around us in the jungle.
"We have to move!" Kael's voice was urgent and piercing.
Kian loosened his hold on me and took off sprinting. As we raced through the woods, I felt the wind on my face and my bones ached with every stride. I tried to grasp onto something to keep myself grounded, so my fingers curled into his shirt
