Chapter 1: The Start of Misery
My vision would before long become foggy and rosy considering the way that my head is injured after scarcely hindering an assault from a professional killer that was sent after me by my life partner.
"When did everything...happen? "Ah, why, why would this all happen to me?" I asked in a shaky voice as I gathered all my strength to stand up to avoid being killed by the assassin who had been sent to me. However, before I could even take a breath and get ready, the assassin appeared in front of me and I felt a burning sensation in my stomach.
"Such unlucky lad," the assassin said in a sarcastic tone, leaving no room for guilt. As he pushed the basilisk-poison-coated knife deeper into my stomach, thoughts began to flood in and recollected all the time in my life. I cursed with regret as memories of my life flashed before my eyes, bringing me back to the point where my misery began. "Ah, right, that's what it is...this all started with that bastard..."
"Professor!" a youthful and light yet lively tone as my understudy shouts to me.
Yes, I am a professor at the High Heaven Academy, one of the most prestigious schools on the continent. My area of expertise is magical theorem and magic history. Despite the fact that I am a professor, I am frequently referred to as "The Academy's Fool" due to my timid, weak-minded, and cowardly attitude, which prevents me from even shouting at my own class.
when I entered the space. Despite the noise, I didn't feel like yelling when I saw how rowdy my class was. Instead, I talked incessantly, to the point where the front row of my class couldn't even hear me. Then, all of a sudden, a strong woman's voice filled the entire classroom: "EVERYONE SHUT UP!" The woman who yelled then faces my direction after making the entire class quiet, emitting a rather terrifying aura. Professor! She said, "Please start your class," in such a way that even the saints of heaven doubt that she was the one who yelled and got her classmates to stop talking for a split second.
[What's her name again.] I mentally posed the question and remembered her name. After a few seconds, I replied, "Thank you, Ms. La'freuid," lowering my upper body to express my gratitude to her. At that point, one of the students with sharp looks and toned bodies suddenly said, "The Academy's Fool of a professor once again lowered himself." When the lady had previously responded to his comment, he mockingly said, "what a shame."
"I thank you for your superfluous remark Mr. La'Eclopas, presently would you see any problems with shutting your mouth assuming it will just say unbefitting words " she said with a delicate grin all over in spite of talking words that would go against her demeanor, everybody would giggle as they did whatever it takes not to snicker at the circumstance which made the fellow's face reddish bitterly and shame. " "N-now...everyone please sit," I told them to stop, and they complied and began my lecture.
As the academy's bell rang to signal the end of my period and my final class, I began to gather my books and other supplies when, all of a sudden, a slender, voluptuous figure obscured the light on my table. I raised my head to investigate, and to my surprise, it turned out to be the class president.
"Ms. Francoise, what can I do for you?" I asked. I talked consciously to the young lady who was my understudy, regardless of this reality I expected to extend regard towards her as she is the main girl of a duke from the realm of Phobos one of the most remarkable realm in Vhishain Continent.
"Professor, can you remain and have a cup of tea with me?" She said, "I have something to discuss with you" in a rather suspicious tone that was filled with worries and anxiety. This made me look at her and stay silent for a second, even though I couldn't help but think that I had scheduled a meeting with my fiancée that I couldn't miss.
"Maybe next time, Ms. Francoise; as you can see, Professor, I'm running late on my meeting with fiancée, Professor. Lylia . I said in a monotone voice, "Lylia will be upset if I get there late," and gently smiled at her. Unconsciously, I laid my hand on her head, gently rubbed my palm on her, and smiled to reassure her, knowing that her face would then be filled with worries and sadness. I assured her, "Everything will be alright," removed my hands from her immediately, grabbed my belongings, and quickly left the room.
My mind would continue to be filled with my students' worried expressions as I walked down the hallway to my fiancée's office, which would continue to bother me until I reached her office. Pushing slowly the large door to my fiancée's office, I suddenly hear muffled chuckles and sloppy noises. This made me curious, and I immediately went inside to find my fiancée, Professor, to my surprise. Lylia kisses another man—not just any man—but one of the school's most prominent professors who is successful in the Magic theorem field, which is the same as mine. Professor. Gremory Von Athena, not having the option to accept what's going on I jumped into the room after strongly pushing the entryway.
"LYLIA, WHAT THE f**k ARE YOU DOING?" Lylia quickly hid behind Professor after I shouted my rage out loud at the top of my lungs, drawing their attention. Gremory's back, and Gremory's response followed.
Look at this, oh! Your fiancée is here, Lylia," the man said with a sarcastic tone, making me feel like he was making fun of me.
"For what reason did you do this, Lylia? Gremory, Professor?" "The man in front of Lylia chuckled and talked as I said it in a trembling voice, thinking that everything was false." Oh, long before you and your partner got engaged; this is why everyone calls you Professor "The Academy's fool." Osamu,” he jokingly replied, staring at me with scornful eyes.
"This is all a lie, right? Lylia?" i spoke and continued on believing in her. "Did he forced you? is he blackmailing you? Tell me..ill help you" speaking continuously whilst ignoring the lad who was covering her.
"Shut up will you. I just used you for your research you lowly peasant, I won't even do it again, you should be thankful that you were given a chance to be engaged with me even it was all a fake" she then comes out of his back and walked towards me with eyes full of disgust while looking on me.
Biting my lower lip until it bleeds, while looking down as i felt Gremory's gaze on me. I began to grow small and small yet my anger wasn't something i can control when Gremory spoke once again. "ha— you lowly peasant. how did you even enter the academy with such specs, did your lowly parents begged the dean or someone who has power in the academy in exchange for something?" he said and chuckled.
Hearing those words that came out of his mouth, the anger within me that i tried to suppress was now out of control just as my fear is now completely obsolete.
"So that's how it is...hahaha" laughing in anger, my mind would then be filled with hundred of magic formulas as i compressed it all in one spell, a spell that is too much that my mana won't be able to keep up.
Raising my hand infrony of my chest as i chanted ancient runic words and spoke the name of the spell under my breathe. "Annihilation" i said as a medium size purplish magic circle appeared infront of my palm, the magic within me would be moving along my magical circuit just as i was about to release it, the magic circle would then be shattered and disappear suddenly, making me spat blood due to my magic being cancelled abruptly in the middle of magic casting.
The persons infront of me started to laugh as Gremory belittled me. "A mere 2nd circle mage tries to contest magic with me? let me shoe you how to use magic then" he said. "Explosion"
A strong explosion aimed at me would soon hit my body and pushed me back which destroyed the walls and the door of Lylia's office. Landing flat on my back, feeling pain all over my body, my consciousness would then slowly fade away along with my foggy vision which the last thing i saw was people starting to gather around me.
