I don’t hear from Kane the next day or the next couple of weeks. I stayed inside my house until it was time for me to leave for work most days, telling myself I was over being rejected by him, but I didn’t want to risk seeing Mr. Black. He reminded me too much of Kane. I was relieved when there was no sign of the wolf when I walked to my car everyday, though I did see his paw prints in the dirt most days.
